this sport is progressing too fast for the equipment. my friends and i usually go through a pair of skis a year because the bindings rip out or they shatter when landing switch. its not like we just trash the skiis doing stupid stuff like riding across rocks and dirt. i mean they are taken care of. im getting tired of buying 2 new pairs of bindings to last the year. my friend already is on his spair pair this year and we arnt even half way through. shit needs to stop

maybe the pullout if from a shitty mount.. change were you get your skis mounted from. or it can be from a bad core, so if theres one company that you tend to pullout of, then dont buy that company

i mount them myself after having shops do it and they still pull out. its not like it just strips the hole its that it takes chunks and breaks the ski... it has happened to rossis, volkls, and armada.

i break a ton of gear. last year I was the first person to delam a pair of JJ's.

I've only had one pair of skis hold up for more than a season, and those would be the Head Mad Trix... to bad they were way to stiff to be a good park ski.

Last year I broke my JJ's twice, broke Marker Dukes on their first day of use, and my record is 7 pairs of skis on one year.


Got Marker Dukes mounted on Moment Bibby Pros right now, there's already the smallest bit of delam right on the nose (no clue how it happened), but we'll see if it becomes an issue or not.

holy shit. 7 pairs? thats alot.   my 09 rossignol s4's have almost a year on them. im on my second set of bindings tho.

Epoxy your binding screws and check the tightness regularly. Look for bindings with a lot of metal; pivot, fks, higher din usually. Check old race skis for bindings. New bindings are all plastic, ergo they fall apart. Stay away from your px12 or salomon 912 ti.

as of now i have salomon STH 16's on my rossi s4's. those seeme to work pretty good tho ive broken almost all the plastic covering off them.

i agree with the OP. while i am a snowboarder, and cant speak for skis or bindings, last season i broke 2 boards, one i broke into three separate pieces after just 11 days on snow. the other lasted about two months, but thats still not long enough. the season before i broke 3 boards, and this season i already blew out a sidewall on my new board, and ive been riding it for about a week. it was probably just bad luck, but still. and its not like im a 250lb guy riding 147cm boards. im around 140, and every board ive broken has been between 153-156. two of them were wides.

both the ski/snowboard industry need to step it up in terms of durability. if they did, they wouldn't have to warranty my shit every other week. i dont think it would be that hard.

Somebody else said it, but epoxy or glue.  You can use a good wood glue.  This keeps moisture from getting inside the ski through the screw holes.  That can compromise the core of the ski making the skis break easier.
