Park pass

Ik every mountain in washington has a park pass program but i was wondering what other mountains did thanks sorry for the possible repost

at the mountains i ride, and anyone i have been to the park is just open for whoever wants to go in.

washington state? i dont know about snoqualmie but white pass doesnt require a park pass

butternut in great barrington mass. does. rode there today it was fun...its funny how some tiny parks like theirs have passes and places with shit ton of park like mt snow dont.

i dont think its worth paying for butternuts park. you can cut into it on the side down a little lower and still hit the jumps. their rails didnt impress me too much

they should charge a 100 dollars extra with a seaon pass for a season park pass.   And charge like 15dollars for a day park pass.   The profits could go towards the park and new features.   Get rid of all the fucken tards in the park.

i think its fun, but their park crew seems lazy as hell. they build the rails like for boarders. early season, theres just boxes sticking out of the ground with no jump at all.

same with end of season. they had enough snow for better jumps onto rails, but didnt make them. so i decided to ski the mini park

the reason he brings it up is because the idea was put up to sugarloaf (my home mountain, and also his username loaf___) and any positive feedback would be cool. What most of us are pushing for is just an online quiz you have to take to get a certification to enter the park just to educate the riders, because we have a HUGE problem with gapers in the parks. They on the landings, and can cause accidents and harm individuals, which i see is a big problem that doesn't face just us. I don't think a fee would be any good, just as long as those that have not taken the quiz are kept out until they can be aware of what can happen, and those that are educated hopefully play by the rules.

But does anyone have any expirence using a park pass? are gapers usually separated from the park? are there less backups and accidents? landings mostly clear?

My mountain has park passes for $10.  Except all the little racers get them for free, and ruin the park every time they go through.  Park crew tells them every time not to roll over lips and jump off the sides or jumps onto rails and such but they still do.  So it is basically worthless becasue the ones who should stay out of the park are the ones getting free passes.  The race coaches literally bring about 45 kids in there for multiple runs and the coach stands at the jump and waves them all down one by one.  Annoying as fuck.

In my experience it's the places that have absolutely no need for a park pass that have them. Personally, I think it deters good skiers from going to those mountains because they have to pay extra and watch a stupid movie or even take a test that tells them to do things that they do already. It's not hard to spot the people who don't belong in the park, why not just tell them it's extreme terrain or a triple diamond so they won't go in. Park passes only encourage bad skiers to go into the park because they think that by watching a movie they're automatically safe. The mountains I go to that don't have them usually have a beginner park that takes the general crown out of the real park, or it just doesn't really matter.
Bottom line if you can get it for free online then it's fine. but if you have to pay for it, everyone should poach that park.

I'm pretty sure Winter park does in the Dark Territory. That was a couple years ago though. I'm not sure if it is a pass, but to get in you have to pay $15 and watch a safety video or something like that

In my experience the park pass system works brilliantly. My old stomping grounds, Blue Mountain, ON, implemented a park pass, where you had to watch a quick video, sign a waiver, and pay $10 for a pass, good for the season. This allowed them to build big set ups without paying up the ass for insurance, kept the people who didn't belong out, and if people weren't following proper park etiquette and/or becoming a safety hazard, they could be kicked out.

I've also had a great experience with the Blackcomb high level park, which you need a park pass and a helmet to enter.


That being said: in order for you to have a park pass system and be a success I really think you need to have at least one other park at the ski hill which caters to beginners/intermediates that doesn't require a park pass. Everyone's gotta learn somewhere, and you can't forget the little guy.




for hills (especially out east) where there are a lot of people who only use the resort for the park, and essentially ignore the other 90% of infrastructure on the mountain, there should be a true park pass. Why spend $1000 on a pass to a ski hill you only use one chair and one run? We talked about this a bit many moons ago while back in Ontario for Blue Mountain, but it just wasn't feasible at the time. But now, with park being even bigger now than it was than, perhaps it is time to once again propose the idea to the ski resort? Who knows...

yes, we have a mini park that we were trying to say does not need a pass to get in. And ours would be free of charge, but the fee can create profit to use towards improving the quality of the park.

and as for the only park pass, most of our parks do not contain a lift that is specific to just the park, they are all located below mid mountain with little to no mid mountain access to them, so that is unfortunately out of the question, but i like the idea.

I think Ski SUndown in Connecticut should definately do this, They couldn't make good jumps last year, im not sure if it was lawsuits or insurance or somthing along those lines, but the Jumps turned into step ups and Its hard for people that only ride there to learn jumps, and i love them

They're doing this at mountain creek in NJ, with the online quiz and all. I'm hoping gapers just won't bother taking the quiz, or fail it. I was at blue on monday, trying to spin 180s right before i land, kinda like a late 180 i guess, and as soon as i land there are like 3 snowboarders sitting/had fallen at the bottom of the landing. As much as I would have liked to ski switch into them and impale them with my skis, it wasn't gonna happen and I just fell to stop.

Park passes are cool most times, I would hope places that charge put all the money towards the park.

The only mountain I have been to that did this is Stratton, and even though going through the pass process was a pain, it was definitely worth it in how much it kept the parks running smoothly.

Now this season I have a season pass to Gore so I'm up there a lot, and although the park is still very much in its infancy, a pass would make the park WAY better. This year the park was put on what used to be a main family trail, and a huge portion of gapers still try to ski it, which is okay b/c all of the features are to one side, but they cut over due to the lack of any rope or markings that there is a park. Roping off the park side and giving out a short test for a pass would keep the park flowing and make it WAY safer: In the past two days I have been cut off many many times (I don't even stay long in the park anyway) and my one friend almost landed on top of a kid standing hidden on the landing of a jump.
