It seems to me that good rappers just need good beats, and bad rappers are popular because they have dope beats. Lil' wayne is a prime example.

I listen to real music, not some drunk ass ramble, that is autotuned, over shitty overused beats. I listen to real hip-hop and rap, very little that you will hear on the radio or mtv. I don't get how anyone can like lil wayne. He has a couple older songs that have ok beats, but every time he raps i get the urge to penetrate my skull with some sort of firearm or spear.

and to solidify my beliefs on lil wayne: i used to like him, then i didn't, and no ceilings earned a lot of respect from me because nobody can lie, he is unbelievably witty.  if anyone tries to deny that, you are just plain wrong.  i can understand why you may not like him, but he is insanely witty when he raps, which makes it enjoyable for me.  the one thing i don't like is when he raps over rock shit, just like tech nine, it pisses me off.

I think you just summed up how I feel about him as well. I love his lines and as you said it, his wit. Most of the stuff he comes up with is funny and makes sense if you think about it. some people just aren't smart enough i suppose haha.
