I have never seen this but to make an educated guess. He is training them. Well, i know he's training them. For that dude calling him a dick, that is exactly what boot camp is like. They need to knock you all the way down and make you feel like shit so you can learn from it. Some may call it brainwashing but it is very effective. All I got to say about that. People from a family that has no military members in it, no extended family members in the military, or those that have grown up being told the military is "evil and full of degenerate assholes that belong in prison" will never understand. I do with an ex-Navy dad, 3 guys that are essentially uncles to me (close friends of my dad's) who are/were Marines I completely and TOTALLY understand it.

No, he's pissed because they aren't doing their job.  It's not training, more like supervising.  This video is really old.  And by the way, your ideas on training are pretty naive.  I worked basic training last year, and you are rarely, if ever,  just being a dick to be a dick.

Even though we shouldn't be in Iraq I suppose you think we should just leave then? What happens then? Oh yeah, Iraq will become some form of a clusterfuck like Somalia did after the Rangers and Delta Force left.

We are trying to set up the police force there so they can protect themselves but they won't do it. The swearing was a bit much but the guy has a damn point and that is that his men are dieing to protect these Iraqis and it is about damn time they start pulling their weight.

YOU MUST LEAVE! The BS just keeps being extended with no plan for exit! You toppled the Govt. So the priority should be giving back power to the people such as a -Democracy-! But No why do that Why would the US stand for democracy when you can control the region! This is the real problem of corporate interests over sound foreign policy!! Sure this soldier is a moron but he does not speak for the overall point of view and neither do the police of Iraq who would gladly tell you to fuck off if their jobs didnt depend on it, yet alone having an expectation to die because another country decided to invade on ZERO intelligence. Proven to be false but we should all believe its for the best!  But that is an old argument. Where to go from here? This soldier is not a moron. He is there to HELP train and get the Iraqi police ready to police their country on their own. Help means HELP, not doing your fucking job.


Many of the Iraqi Police say fuck off... they do it by never showing up for work.

Maybe not trying to make a fool of their leadership ie. Higher ranking officials could help create some form of rank between their force. Yet it is clear he gives them shit in front of everyone which immediately undermines their authority and makes it look like the US military runs shit there and thats how it is. Not really a good message to send if you dont want to hang around running shit for years, True?

My argument is that if you want to get out of there! And god knows why you wouldnt! That the ownership of that country needs to be given back! That means their own police, Their own military and the US stops interfering in things that is a requirement of the people to fix!

It clearly looks like the intention is to perpetuate the hostility and even extend it through the middle east and beyond into Africa. When is it enough? I know pride plays a big deal but when do you find the middle ground and realise that you will find more stability and better trade with foreign nations when you stop trying to imply your will and decide to talk with these nations?

He is helping by letting the US troops under him pick up the slack for the Iraq police force. And he is getting pissed cause he is supposed to start slowly transferring power and responsibility over to the Iraqi's but they don't want to take care of themselves.


And he has to give the officers shit cause they are of lower rank than he is and officers generally under that of about captain will lead a patrol from time to time while in the Iraqi police force the lieutenants just tell people what to do and sit around doing nothing.

The US is trying to give ownership back but unfortunately the Iraqi police force couldn't keep their country safe from a Shamal wind storm right now so US troops have to stay and, as I said earlier, pick up the slack.



So, hypothetical... let's say the US drops everything and leaves, tomorrow. What happens then? Iraq will start taking care of themselves and then become the democratic jewel of the Middle East? No, they will begin to start killing each other over religious sects that don't get along and the country will become straight civil war for a very VERY long time. You will begin to see genocide like you see in Darfur cause the Kurds, though outnumbered, have been beaten up and thrown around for so long much like the Chechens that they will grab their guns and just start killing, raping, and stealing their way in a form that hasn't been seen since the Soviets worked their way through Germany and the rest of Eastern Europe.

We all know why this is happening! Yet Noone want to actually recognise that is was instigated by a complete fallacy! If anything you destroyed the stability in the region as radical as it sounds, it is true!

So I am not implying that it will be all great if the US just leaves, but ,my guess is that it will be slightly better! You seem to buy into some religious genocidal belief that tribal faction wars will continue but if done correctly some sort of government could be established and to be honest the whole region has seen so much turmoil lately that it will be like a relief to all to see some progress.

The soviets and their agenda are not even relatable to this conflict and you know that. Dont go there. I believe you funded the taliban to fight against them or is that not history??

US forces aren't doing too hot but they are doing a much better job that the Iraqi police would all on their own.

And let us not turn this into a "should we have gone to Iraq?" thread cause I have even said we shouldn't have. Ok, give me a reason why the Sunni's, Shiite's, and Kurd's won't start killing each other as soon as the US and other country forces decide to leave. It has been pretty well proven that when someone goes in to a country like this and then leaves with a ruler in place that that ruler usually gets killed and then the country falls into a civil war where people get killed cause their mom is from the wrong clan. No brand new government can do with the pure rage the Shiite's and Kurd's feel in Iraq after years of oppression from Saddam's rule.

And I didn't bring up the Soviet in Afghanistan you asshat. I brought them up from what they did in WWII and how they basically raped and pillaged their way across Eastern Europe like a super pissed off Viking and that the Kurd's and the Shiite's most likely as well would do the same as soon as the troops are gone.

sup just wanna claim that my dad was 21 years air force, my bro is joining next summer as a chaplian, my great uncle was in the navy, stationed in pearl harbor, and was there when it happened. my great grandpa was in WW2 on a destroyer,,, my best friend is a marine scout sniper, my other best friend is in the marines for recon, aaaand ive got everything in line to join the AFROTC next year, already been offered full ride, etc.

Ok. So we agree that you are there on false causes. But can you give me a reason as to why  you must stay there? I do agree that chaos will ensue and probably a civil war. But what exactly is your plan for a better outcome? How do you plan on avoiding this? Constant occupation until they are the 53rd state of the US? At some point you must let go and have the will of the people be the outcome! EVEN if it is not your desired outcome. Otherwise the whole purpose of your interference of which we are no longer arguing, is a failure. And maybe failure can be accepted but then again maybe not.

Oh, I don't know, I guess we should stay there so that you know, shit doesn't go down and Iraq becomes the hipsters new Darfur? The only thing that can help the Iraqis right now is a somewhat stable government and a police force that can hold it's own.

And right now the will of the people in the Iraq probably fall as such:
Shiites want to slaughter the Sunnis
Kurds want to slaughter the Shiites
and the Sunnis want everything to go back to the way it was under Saddam cause then they were protected.
