Being a gun LOVER/enthusiast, i just wanna say somethings:


1. I do actually agree with a ban on handguns. There is no other reason for the existence of a handgun other than its concealability. You would only ever need to conceal a weapon, as a civilian if you were going to do something bad. Want to defend your home? Blow that robber's head off with a shotgun. HAND GUNS ACCOUNT FOR 98% OF GUN CRIMES

2. I highly disagree on the assault weapons ban. Why not just make it so hard to buy an assault weapon, only the most legit people would do so? But why ban them, and not handguns? Handguns account for so many of the murders in the country, and no one can conceal an assault rifle.

Not to mention the assault weapons ban is the dumbest bill ever. It was written by a bunch of idiots who have never held a gun in their lives.

First of all it only pertains to semi-automatic weapons. WTF????

Here are the provisions:
Semi-automatic rifles able to accept detachable magazines and two or more of the following:

• Folding or telescoping stock ????? what does this have to do with crime???
  
• Pistol grip   How Does a pistol grip facilitate crime????
  
• Bayonet mount Any AR-15 style front sight will have a bayonet lug. Doesn't mean people are going to attach bayonets..... why not just ban knives????
  
• Flash suppressor, or threaded barrel designed to accommodate one. Why not just ban the sale of flash suppressors???? Threaded barrels are great for interchanging flashhiders.
  
• Grenade launcher (more precisely, a muzzle device which enables the launching or firing of rifle grenades) ????? How many people in the USA can purchase a m203 grenade launcher????
  

Semi-automatic pistols with detachable magazines and two or more of the following:

• Magazine that attaches outside the pistol grip
• Threaded barrel to attach barrel extender, flash suppressor, handgrip, or suppressor
• Barrel shroud that can be used as a hand-hold
• Unloaded weight of 50 oz (1.4 kg) or more
• A semi-automatic version of an automatic firearm

Semi-automatic shotguns with two or more of the following:

• Folding or telescoping stock
• Pistol grip
• Fixed capacity of more than 5 rounds
• Detachable magazine

How do any of these cosmetic features facilitate crime?????????????????????
Not to mention all of these only pertain to semi-automatic weapons! And "assault weapons" only accounts for 2-8% of gun crimes annually. The assault weapon ban has no effect on gun crime. Want to reduce gun crime? get rid of hip hop and hand guns (i love my hip hop, get rid of the hand guns)


3. Everyone is required to own an automatic rifle in Switzerland. Switzerland has the highest per capita gun ownership in the world. Switzerland has some of the most liberal gun policy in the world. They only had 36 cases of gun crimes last year.

4. Sparknotes: ban handguns!

Ever swiss male is supposed to enter the militia, and is given 3 guns. That means nearly every household in Switzerland owns a Sig550 and p220, or a sig510 and p220. Moreover, due to its liberal gun laws and strong shooting history, many people in Switzerland own personal firearms.

 Switzerland has the highest per capita gun ownership in the world.

Switzerland has only a .56 gun murders per 100,000 people compared to the USA's 2.97 , which has about 1/72 the per capita gun ownership of Switzerland,

A gun is simply a tool. A tool meant to inflict death.

Now hearing a southern gun lovin redneck, tell me owning a tool of death is the proper action, all i can think of is how ignorant can you be?

Deep down I'm pretty sure we all know that killing people, is simply wrong, always has been wrong and always will be wrong.

And then comes the conclusion, and my faith, that one day our planet, and the human race will one day be peaceful. I don't know when, but I do know that if you don't have hope it'll never happen.

Shooting an animal for sport, is just rediculous. Ecosystems are fragile and dont need bored trigger happy people going in and fucking the whole thing up. Now if you use a bow and arrow or knife, then EAT the animal it makes it quite a bit better. Not that Im better then anyone, I eat meat ALOT. and thats praying even more on helpless animals. Kind of hypocritical, but just thought Id raise that point

When you say "praying" for "preying" you lost some validity in your argument.

And hunting with a bow or knife is a lot worse for the animal cause if you miss with the bow and still hit the animal they are then in pain and suffering and suffer a long slow death. A rifle will kill them almost instantaneously.

And for the home invasion argument.

I remember hearing something somewhere, i think it was a random speech at the start of a Dead Prez song, but it went along the lines of, "once you have those who have, and those who have not, is the junction in society when the police are necessary."

Now this man wasnt supporting the police, the system, the government.

Everyone needs to start looking further down the road, look at the way bigger picture. Our society is messed, our society, the system, is not getting better. People are still poor, people are still dying, people are still stealing, killing, greeding. Shit aint changing folks, and it doesnt seem like it's getting any better in the near future.

And by bigger picture, im saying one day I hope everyone in the world looks at the planetary picture. Not local, not countries.

There should just be earth and the residents of earth. And every resident should care about every other resident no matter what they look like, where they're from, what their believes are.

No one should be able to abuse power. There's too much power in such a small group on our planet. And if that never changes, nothing ever will.

But I kinda wandered, what im saying is we need a fairer society. It isnt fair childern are born into poverty and fucked up situations.

There are many people out there who grow up with nothing, and watch people on the TV with everything.

What does that do to someone? What feeling would that create? That creates a want, a jealousy, a confusion as to why the hell the next person gets so much.

These people dont have money for school. The poor are stuck wiht nothing. The middle work fucking hard and get just enough. The uber rich, these people have inherited their wealth and power, and just looooooovveee to abuse it. (by uber rich im not talking upper class, im talking upper upper upper class.)
