By the laws of the USA, every person employed by the nation, must take a certain amount of vacation time...

however, Obama can totally override that on himself whenever he wants... and I'm sure when this thing happened in Detroit, he was on the fucking phone lines like mad...

Besides.. when's the last time the president was in Hawaii? I think it's a cool thing for them to get some full on representation from it...

Every other high ranking person in our government does this stuff ALL THE TIME!!! Its no surprise, yet every time they take an expensive vacation like this people freak out. Get over it(not saying you, just in general).

There is nothing work related that he cant get done from his computer and his cell phone. He left for Hawaii before the guy tried to blow up the plane.

If we want to have a discussion about something that is actually worth while why don't we talk about how bad our government fucked up with this terrorist considering his father warned the US that his son might be a terrorist.

& like someone else said, I'm glad he is a real person.

It did happen... it took bush 6 days to acknowledge Richard Reids attempted terror tack in 2001. BTW he was also on vacation, and he didn't leave either. This situation is just a load of hypocritical shit. The republicans didn't care when bush was in office, yet all of the sudden they are going crazy because Obama didn't respond right away.

i'm not sure how the attempted terror attack could really be used against him. I doubt he was anticipating that happening. And what difference would it make where he was? If the president travels, just about everything he has access to in the white house travels with him. Not like there was much he could do in that case anyways.

Oh, and Bush used to take Air Force One to Texas, then fly Marine One to the Ranch. Just as Obama probably took Air Force One to Hawaii, and Marine One just for short travel.

What I hated on him was for traveling further and going to a place where he has to pay to stay. So not only is he needing to use Air Force One to go a little farther but he also has to pay to stay where he went. It is just way more expensive and sure he is paying out of his pocket but the money get's to his pocket via taxes. I am allowed to bitch about what my money gets used for no?

well i think his big objective was to do health care, but hes spending political capital on health care, plus bailouts to wall street to keep the financial system on life support longer, and once he gets those 2 larger issues taken under his belt, and not the focus of his presidency.

He will actually have time to address more problems, but right now congress is raging about health care....still. It's like for fucks sake move on already and settle it, and get to the next damn topic.

congress and their incompetency hurts the financial markets more than anything.

oh heres my 2010 prediction. Osama Bin Laden found dead or alive, markets soar.

Air Force one has an operating cost of $56,518 PER HOUR

For Presidential travel, flight requires 2 C17's and at least 1 C-130.

For Secret Service, they must bring with them the Presidential motorcade WHICH IS 35 VEHICLES LONG. This must be transported by about 3 C-130s. (Cadillac One, 2 Presidential suburbans, 32 White House Military Office vehicles)

The presidential statecar, called Cadillac One cost 300,000 (there are a classified number of duplicates). It is a GMC topkick truck with a Cadillac DTS limousine exterior with Cadillac Escalade styling components (such as headlights).

Just to give an idea about the cost of traveling to an unsecured location.

BTW, I'm just kidding about all of this. I just want people to think about the difference between going to Hawaii and their own homes. Nevertheless, I believe our President ALWAYS deserves a vacation, and the stresses of the job must be more than anything we can imagine. I for one, think its good that Obama took some time off. Good for him. Just also remember the hardwork our men and women in the military and paramilitary agencies perform.

A little off topic, and it might have been said before, i didn't bother reading all the shit talking about obama. seen it before.

But, when he came to norway he payed close to 1 million USD (!) to get norwegian license plates on all the cars he brought with him. And he stayed here for like 2 days.

As much as I hated Bush, no president should ever be compared to him because he was so shitty that it will make everyone after him look like the greatest president ever.

It costs a lot of money to transport the president, however this is necessary. Get over it.
