How legit are these TSA announcements?

So on the radio for the past week (since the attempted terrorist attack by that dumb shit who burned himself) the TSA has been doing announcements saying you should get to the airport 3 hours ahead of time for domestic flights.

Has anybody flown lately, and if you have is it really ridic at the airport? I have to fly tomorrow morning and I'm sure a bunch more of you do soon too (thus the reason i felt this was a reasonable thread) so let us know if we should be planning on getting there super early or if that's just an exaggeration.

My neighbor is a TSA agent and i had a conversation about the alleged attacks because we live in detroit aka where they happened. but anyways he said that getting there two to three hours ahead is highly suggested.

im flying in a few days too, called my buddy who flew from washington dc to minnesota then whistler to make sure and he said it was a normal length, casual flight

i always try to get to my flights 3-4 hours ahead of time in case stuff happens...traffic, security lines, etc I dont know. Its cool to just chill at the airport I guess.

flew into steamboat yesterday and nothing at all had changed. got through security fairly quick, didn't get patted down or anything like that. then on the plane it was standard like always, none of this 1 hour before you land you must be seated shit.

all was as normal...but it could depend on the flight crew.

i'm flying from san francisco tomorrow to heathrow

you have to be there 3 hours ahead for trans atlantic flights but should we be there even earlier?

they only do the 1 hour thing if its from if your flying into the us from somewhere outside of the us.

my dad flew today from MSP to DFW said he could not notice any difference. granted he gets in the crew line, etc. but he said even for normal passengers he could did not notice anything out of the ordinary.

that doesnt work, my cousin came back from a camping trip all scragly and huge beard wearing a cap and taking pics of the plane on his phone to send to my brother (big plane enthusiast) got interrogated at the airport.
