Meh, east coast and especially rails make it less important.
Plus, you could just have them drill the holes at where ever you wanted to try them, then fill the first holes with epoxy, then glue(waterproof wood glue) in the bindings in the new holes. If you liked them more at -6 then take them out and re-drill the first holes 9mm deep(the measuring has been done for you from the first mount), epoxy the 2nd set of holes and glue back in at -6. Not very hard to do, and a shop just drilling the holes should be >$15.
I had a pair in 08/09 mounted center(only cared about park performance and at the time of mounting thought it was best), then tried them at -6(different pair, same length) and was going to re-mount at -5 or 6(or sell) after the season for better carving, but they broke the last day of the season. Now I have Pipe Cleaners which are currently my favorite park ski.
No, all Chronics only have the reco. line of -6 because Line tells everyone to mount there, because that is where the skis ski the best(due to sidecut, but really due to flex).
Why does what I said earlier sound sketchy? It's not hard to do, and you can have mount holes within 1.5cm of each other without any problems from it.
And IMO, it's all mountain performance that gets lowered the most when you mount them center(when compared to where you have them).
