Boots getting gouged?

Just wondering if this happened to anyone else's boots, seems like this shouldn't happen and the plastic is really soft or something, really pissed me off, it's only from the release of my binding... they're dalbello a60s if that matters.

yep, they're made of pretty soft plastic. if they fit you pretty well, check out the tecnica agent, it's gonna be a slightly wide fitting (like the dalbello) but higher quality freeride oriented boot.

I think that happens when your forward pressure is off on your bindings. Look into it because it might help. Other than that, the more chewed your boots get, the worse your bindings will perform, so it becomes a safety issue too.

Every company uses different grades of plastics at different price-points.  The higher-end boots definitely have nicer plastics than lower-end boots.  But after a while (especially depending on how you store/keep your boots) the plastics can become brittle and chip, especially on the toe/heel lugs where there is a lot of stress. 

Don't not buy another Dalbello because of this, buy or don't buy another one based off of how it fits.

Slightly Wider? I thought dalbellos fit skinny like Full Tilt's?

I'm pretty sure his boots are more beginner models, so they are probably wider.  You're thinking of kryptons.

right, kryptons are a 98mm last, like full tilts. the a60 or whatever it was he said he had is something like 103mm. the agent if i remember correctly is a bit narrower than the dalbello boot is, so it'll give a more performance oriented fit, with much better plastics/construction.

thanks guys yeah i got em cause they fit my foot nicely (and i didnt have a lot of money). i only got em last year though so i cant see them being really brittle already.  anyone know if this would be under warranty at all?

Usually I'd say go for it, at least try.  But given the point in the season you are in, you will be without boots for possibly  4-6 weeks.  Trying to do warranties mid season sucks, it just does.  Plus, most companies are sold out of a lot product already.  You might send them in for warranty, wait the 4-6 weeks only to find out that the company wants to hook you up but they don't have anything to give you until next year. 

Sucks.  I don't think your boot is safe to ski as it is, but warrantying you boot will mean you won't have a boot for a considerable while.  What size boot do you have? Give MP and BSL.

My old lower-end Atomics did that although to a lesser degree. I think it's more of an issue with cheaper boots due to the softer plastics, as mentioned by everyone else :)

I have some used but good condition boots here in the shop, but they aren't your size unfortunately.  Thought I might have a quick answer for you.
