Considering Intuition Liners instead of new boots

My boots (28.5 SPK Kaos from 2 years ago) are getting pretty packed out, and I am getting some pretty rough looking toes after long days in the park.  I am considering replacing the liner with an intuition liner instead of buying entirely new boots.  I would like to spend $200 or less if that is possible.

I'm not sure if these liners are universally compatible, but I hear amazing things about them.  Not as good as a Zip Fit, but supposed to be awesome.  Does anyone have any feedback on them?  My local shop knows how to mold them properly, but they don't carry Salomon and are unsure about the fit.

Another option would be to just get new SPK liners, but I'm not sure where to get them.  They fit beautifully the last 2 years, just getting old.

The last that I knew, Salomon was no longer bringing liners into the USA.  I tried to get a Falcon liner for a customer and it was a complete hassle (Salomon USA had to have Salomon France actually make one and it took 2 months to get).

I don't think you will have any issues putting an Intuition liner into your SPKs- SPK liners aren't exactly lasted to the shell anyways.  I've put them into everything from Dobermanns to Impacts to Ignitions.  Once you head mold them properly, it should work out fine.

And that sounds awesome, I would like more opinions if anyone has them though.  Would there be any disparity in the sizes of the liners and the size of my shell?  From what I understand they mold pretty well.

I plan on calling the company up as well, but no one answers on Sunday :)

I think all Solly boot owners should have Intuitions, and yes they will be fine for any boot pretty much.

They may not stop toe bang though, go cut your nails if you haven't and get some good footbeds if you don't(sollys are total shit) have any, they are much more important in boots than liners are.

Ya, I know it's my liners though.  They have only started becoming uncomfortable in the last couple of weeks.  I have also needed to to tighten my buckles more than usual, as the liner is definitely packed out.

what are the differences between different intuition models?  such as the powerwrap and the alpine liners?

I'm trying to find this stuff out too, but I looked at their dealers section and realized there is one in my town!  I am going down to check it out tomorrow.  I wanted to check out Zip Fits, but for $350 I might as well get new boots.  Intuition seems like a good choice.

I know the guy who owns intuition liners and when he set me up with my first pair i almost laughed at the thought that they would make any difference at all. but the fact is intuition liners make every bit of difference. why dont you like your current boots? what problems do you have with them?

not positive, but i i have the powerwrap, i believe, in my tele boots, and it seems like i have only seen that liner in tele boots

There are better boots in the world then SPK's, intuitions= sick.

I was looking around and it looks like you want to go up a size in intuitions?  So a 28 in my 27.5 langes?

I have mad trouble getting my foot into the boot when i use my intuitions in my sollys... but theyre sick anyway

Just old, packed out liners.  The fit until about 3 weeks ago was perfect, so I would rather just replace the liners.  $180 is much cheaper than buying new boots, and since I got these boots for free I am fine with the price of these liners.

i got id liners for my rampages, they hurt sooo bad the first 2-3 days because i was breaking them in, couldnt feel my feet, but after that wow, theyre amazing feeling. get them

Power Wraps are probably the most popular on TGR(for alpine and AT boots).

Differences are in thickness(all over and/or sole thickness) and in stiffness of the material.

Luxuries have a tongue isntead of being wrap around.  So do Freerides, but they are softer material made for softer flexing boots(if you want a tongues intuition get Luxuries).

I'll be ordering Power Wraps in a few days most likely when I stop being lazy and if I make sure not to spend my money on something else great..

And again, footbeds are way more important than liners.  I had Solly Falcon 9s with over 100 days on them, and the original(totally packed out) liners, but as soon as I got a good footbed I could continue using them.(Now I'm in stiffer and more quality Falcon CS Pros, and the liners in them haven't packed out much at all but I haven't put too long on them).

And with the ZipFits, I have talked to bootfitters and they say get Intuitions instead(cheaper and some say better), and that seems to be what everyone on TGR thinks too.  Intuitions aren't going to pack out for a lonngg time.  If you don't mold them they will hurt though.

salomon footbeds are pretty bad though. they are very thin and very flat and give your foot little to no support.

Do people even realize how cheap these boots are (SPK)?
There is just like a little Gel chunk glued in the heel (wa-hoo).

Exact same problem, I hav too small ankles (but not small ankles) for spk. if u want the same style, but better preformance and fit go with the ghosts, all u do is take out the flex plate so they have identical flex as the kaos or pro model....intuiton liners suck ass and you cant buy stock spk liners.btw

Thanks for the advice guys, the first couple of days with these has been pretty awesome.  I'm going to give it another week before I am 100% certain I'm good to go, but so far I love the Powerwrap liner.

And just a question for comparison:  How tight/loose was the fit on yours when you got them, and then how much did the liner pack out?  Mine feel firm, but not that REALLY tight fit I'm used to with a new boot/liner.  I heard this is fairly normal, but I just don't want to end up with them too loose if they pack out a bunch.

You can't go wrong with the power wrap intuition liners, haven't skiied in anything else for 4 seasons.
