Wtf 7springs

well i came home for the holidays only to discover that 7springs is now more expensive than snowbird. i never thought id get nostalgic about the $46 day passes from a couple years ago, but their rates are a fucking joke right now.

so, in addition to calling out 7springs for having its head up its ass, im wondering if there are any ways to get a pass for (significantly) cheaper than the 70 bucks they are looking for.

Yes 7 springs is way overpriced when it comes to passes I have a season pass so I dont have to worry about it...  There is a legit park set up right now though 5 jumps and a ton of rails so it is worth it even though the weather blows, anyways im in Utah right now so I dont give a shit.

Oh, and if you decide to go without a pass stay in the singles lines and hop on the chair as fast as possible.  They really only check on the main lift but they could go through the park just don't stand around I guess.

more like playing the market! Where else are we going to go, hidden valley?! Ya fucking right I would rather go try to ski on an ice rink. There smart enough to know that they are so much better then anything remotely close, that higher prices do not stop crowds from flocking. Lift lines are still fucking huge during peak. Also, the light the whole moutain till 10pm, something most western resorts dont have to pay for. And its peak hours between Christmas and New Years. Want me to keep listing reasons you shouldnt be surprised?

ive never run a resort out west but im just gonna assume that the overhead involved just with having a legitimate ski patrol and lifts that run more than 700 vertical feet outweighs the cost of lighting up the 7springs front face.

and i have a hard time believing that uncle jed from WV is gonna bring the family to 7springs for the holidays when it costs $100/person for ticket/rental alone, especially with wisp and holiday within easy driving distance.

do you wanna talk about overhead and profit? How about a 4 month(barely) season? How about having to blow snow for weeks just to open? Shit resorts out west dont deal with. And the whole mountain was lite up tonight not just the front.

Pittsburgh(300K+ population) is an hour away from Springs. Most resorts out west dont have a major city with an hour. WHat the fuck are you talking about Uncle Jed for WV? Most of us on here pretty much live in or around Pittsburgh or go to a college in the area. Therefore, all the rich fucks who want a "weekend vacation" or vacation home" have easy access to a "wannabe aspen condo". Did you not see the brand new fucking condos with there own lift at the top!? They dont care about your poor ass.

Go ahead and drive to Wisp or Holiday, I love them both. But like 2+ extra fucking hours to either resort, figure out the difference in gas money and then decide where your going to go to "save money".

Guess ski patrol out east doesnt get paid like another other resorts? Logic in that? Other then a shorter season.

Once again, it comes down too, why the fuck did you not just drive to another resort instead of getting on here and bitching? Just like any other person would do with a business there not happy with.

I think their prices are a joke as well, but there isn't much that can be done about it.  If you want to charge people 22+ the 65$ I can deal with that, but when you are asking anyone 12 and up to fork out that kind of money, it is just being unrealistic.  How does a kid in high school or college afford that?  This is the first year I did not buy a pass in about 10 years and it sucked to buy a lift ticket, but it is what I had to do.  If prices were in the 40 range, I would have probably gone at least an extra day.  With that, I would have bought more of the 6$ beer at the bar (officially more expensive than deer valley). 

I don't think the whole night skiing is that expensive.  If it was, they would charge more for night skiing, or just would not do it.  Families will start to go to places like hidden valley because of the cost.  Keep in mind, the majority of people who ski/ride could care less about park / challenging runs.  They just go 2 or 3 times a year for a day with the family.

yes families can go to Hidden Valley because of cost($15). But you will have less terrain,slower lifts, dont think they even have a real park crew? could be wrong on that one. Heard there park was "ok" but thats a broad definition out east. I am content with springs since they hand groom features all day everyday, have the newest equipment/boxes/rails.

So just like anything else, you get what you pay for. If I plan on spending less on a service, then I would expect it not to be as good, and not bitch.

Yep your right, most people only go 2/3 times a year and dont touch the park. And since they only go 2 or 3 times a year, why would they go to the shitty resort? To save $15? Your kidding yourself. They would rather spend there few skis days on high speed lifts and way larger/more terrain.

Locally, unless you grew up or have a connection at hidden valley or are just starting, you dont touch that place. Not worth the money at all. Freebie days are always good tho haha.

Seriously put yourself in the place of Springs management. Where you salary is directly affect by ticket income. Why the fuck would you lower prices when you have no problem selling tons of lift tickets at a high prices? Guess they should do it because they should feel bad for you not having the cash........welcome to the real world.

^ my contention is that they wont sell as many lift tickets, especially during the holidays in a poor economy. i'm not looking for a handout, but i don't think a college discount (or not raising prices 20 bucks in 2 years) is too much to ask.

its no secret 7springs has been losing money. and unfortunately for bob nutting, not everyone nut-hugs 7springs like you do, and in this case theres no revenue sharing to bail him out.

Pretty sure anyone who was there this holiday is sitting back laughing at you, lines were fucking insane aka a bunch of "overpriced" ticket sales. Guess were waiting for the Depression for your theory to work?

ya dude, they must be losing money all over the place...? In the past 5 years they have put in 2 high speeders, cleared numerous new trails and terrain, 40k in jibs/ rails & park equipment, full staffed park crew, built rediculous condos on top with there own lift. These are totally signs of losing money, they just want to dig themselves a digger hole of debt, right? Could care less about Nuttings personal profits as long as 7 springs keeps getting better for newschoolers. and it has been for years now.

Pardon me for putting you in your place for looking like a fucking jackass, and all you can say is i nut hug 7 springs? Good argument man. I will nut hug the fuck out of any resort that wins Transworld awards for there park & pipe every year and is located in fucking Pittsburgh. 7 Springs is just the only one that gives a fuck about parks and jibbing in general. Hidden/Boyce could, but they dont because they know they will never see that money again. No other place will host the larger comps because its not a money maker. So quite being a fucking snob and appreciate the only resort in this area that gives a fuck about freestyle skiing enough to take it seriously.

college student season passes are already offered and theyre so cheap that if youre going to ski three times during the holiday you've pretty much paid it off.

full on pass this season purchased before june (no limitations, no college discount) was 379. but they gave you a $50 gift card that can be used anywhere on resort. hotel room, bar, wherever. so pass was really like 329.

not a bad deal imo

but yes, the day passes are ridiculous
