Humans vs humans. why?

For some reason, humans love to fight each other. Why is this? Is it because our species is so focused on its intraspecies social customs? Have we become to complex for our own good?

I think humans are fucked. Happy christmas eve, folks.

Btw, I'm supposed to be sitting down at some rich prim dinner party and I am about to blow the fuck up and call everyone out for being an ignorant prick. When someone wears white pants instead of black pants and someone gets angry about it, I want to stand up and tell them how stupid the entire species is. Thank you and goodnight.

It's insane that our knowledge goes towards developing massive bombs and guns so strong that concrete walls can't even protect you. To be fair, we do a decent amount of nice stuff, but still. It's a lot easier to kill somebody than save them these days.

All animals fight, we just found better things to fight with.

when someone says something that compares to the intelligence of what a 10 year old would make with no concept of how the world works, you are either a fucking pussy, an attenion whore, or a fucking hippy. there's a difference between coming up with something ground breaking plus thought provoking, and something thats just fucking stupid. this is one of those cases of the latter.

but like why stop there man, why not think about why hamsters kill other hamsters that live in other cages? i mean like why do they do that? doesnt make sense man!

actually I'm majoring in ecology and bioengineering so that I can learn about biomimicry and change the industry technology so that I can help reverse the effects of the industrial revolution on the planet and on our species. I strongly believe our species should be more animalistic and focus less on bullshit social customs but unfortunately our species evolved to become ridiculously complex.

Your little brother dying is sad for you I'm sure. I really don't care if you are 'hard' or not though. I've had plenty of experience with death and unfortunate events which I won't divulge information about on a public internet forum. It doesn't matter unless you learn to make it matter though. This is actually old school native american thinking, however. Not hippy philosophy or attention whoring.

Hippies have it right, but most can't put it into practice. With our intelligence, us humans have the capacity to make a lot of things happen on earth. none of which are really important in the big picture, which I am looking at. All of our progression means NOTHING. Big whoop, scientists discover a cure for cancer. Please don't say that I am Machavellian, because I have had several very close experiences with loved ones with cancer. Overpopulation is a huge issue on the earth. Humans are guaranteed to have cancer if one lives forever. fuckin guaranteeeeed, homie.

I understand that it may have a purpose. Maybe alien life forms are more intelligent but they choose not to expand and colonize other planets because it would be downright stupid. They might have learned to use the resources their planet gave them in a manner that allowed them to harvest the resources year after year without depletion, or even unnatural reduction. Fuck, Britain has a nuclear weapons program already (as I'm sure many nations do) to protect themselves in the upcoming war for resources. Ever heard of Lifeboat Britain? Look it up.

I see where you are coming from, but I'm not really thinking outside the box at all. I'm actually confining my life to the limitations of our habitat, rather than trying to create bullshit that causes future problems.

its just your point is fucking stupid. no insult to your intelligence at all, but really man. you said it in your first paragaph, "our species should be more animalistic". yes we are. if you want what you are aiming for, then we have to abandon all of that. there was a study done with middle class teens. they were seperated into two different colonies. they never have met each other and both come from very similar backgrounds. guess what happened when they met? they faught and focused on survival for each other's colonies. its human nature. NOTHING can overcome that. its a matter of accepting thats the way things are and challenging something thats so simple and unchallengable is stupid and useless. seems depressing but in truth, its setting your intelligence back decades in the form of human behavior. you are simply overthinking things. thats all. being "hard" or expieriencing death, i dont know what this has to do with this subject, but apparently some jackass was trying to get the leg up in something in which he has no knowledge of.

Interesting. I disagree about the human nature thing. one study doesn't really justify a whole species. but it is an interesting point for sure. I guess you do your thing and I'll do mine.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately, and it just seems like simple is so much better. At some point during our existence we went from just living off the land and sustaining to wanting to manipulate, control and expand. At what point does it stop? What's the actual benefit to owning all these material things versus simplifying and ignorance? Everything in your life only seems important because you're so used to it and have become completely dependent on it.

Are we better off with TV than if it had never existed and been a part of everyones life? You would have no knowledge of its existence therefore wouldn't miss it, and as a result would find more joy in simple activities. Back before TV was around people weren't miserable because there was no TV, they didn't know what it was. Instead they found other things to do that brought them just as much joy, as I think it's all relative. Now a lot of people find that same level of joy in TV and have become detached from the simpler things which no longer hold the same value. Both generations had activities that they enjoyed, its just the present has become so much more complex and as a result sort of devalued everything else.

Is it possible to become detached from your TV now that you know about it/have been living with it? I sure as hell know I'm better off without it, however I've been living with it for 20 years and its skewed my whole perspective on everything. I think you might be able to just give it up but you'll always remember it and know about it. Its impossible to completely erase the whole concept of TV, at least with the current technology. This is just kind of an example of the idea and it probably doesn't sound all to clear because its hard to put the thoughts into words

Of course the reality is we're all a part of the same world so there isn't much fooling to be done. I'm guilty of being materialistic and egotistical and would love to say I'm not but the truth is I am. I'm a junior in college majoring in electrical and computer systems engineering, with the goal to get a well paying job, buy stuff to make me happy and all that jazz. Now I'm not gonna give it all up and go live in the woods, but where does it all fit in/what's the solution? What can I do to make my/other peoples lives better, because I really don't think the way we are going is the right way. Still trying to work this out. good topic though

Well, the fact that the OP is posting this is a counter argument to the human nature thing. What if instead of war, we used athletics as a way of competition to let out our "human nature" in a controlled manner. And also, there needs to be a whole paradigm shift. We need to stop thinking in terms of fighting and reward diplomatic solutions. This will over time change our "instinct" to fight and compete.

Whatever, I'm getting into a ridiculous argument of theories and speculations that will not be resolved in our lifetime at all.

Humans as a species are fucked. We've become so dependent on our technology that if there was some cataclysmic event that destroyed our technology we'd all die (not all but you get my point) For example, a nuclear war that wipes out most of the industrial countries.

theres more examples of this, take that test they did a little while back where they took normal people and made them fake guards and inmates. The guards abused the prisoners, even the ones who didn't want to did just not to defy the leader. The people being abused put up a fight once, after there morale had been broken they were all for there selves. There is a reason why believing in a Utopia is a silly dream.
