I wouldn't be. I have this years alpha 2's that have the 50/50 sandwhich/cap construction and they are bombproof. Seriously I beat the hell out of my skis on rails and they are still perfect. No edge cracks and minimal top sheet chipping. I'm sold on Armada now.

Have they kept they flex pretty well? Like to they feel softer than when you started skiing them or have they lost any camber/gained rocker?

2011 volkl wall... cap? cap/sidewall?

i know the tip and tail look like cap from watching xgames and looking at the pictures in sia part 3, but cant tell if they are sidewall under foot like the jjs and ar7

I wouldn't say they break in anymore than a normal ski. The feel a tad bit softer after about 30 days but nothing crazy. Rocker and camber is still the same as day one.

I wouldn't be... I have the ARGs from the first year they made the Cap/sidewall construction and they barely have a scratch and no top-sheet or edge damage... Granted they are powder skis so they see a lot less use than the average ski, but they have stood the test of time. My brother has Alpha 1s and he rapes them on rails and everything else and they barley have a scratch,

kinda pissed k2 put insane tip rocker on the obsethed. i was looking at that for an east coast powder ski but im thinking that muhc rocker is a tad unneccesary. you guys think the bacons would be a good east coast pow ski? now that they have rocker they look pretty sick. id also like to see the billy goats but that will be awile

armadas are known for being some of the most durable skis on the market so i wouldnt be spencer

plus im sure they would hold up a little better then our surfaces ;)

i came to the same conclusion yesterday. maybe k2? according to schies they have some sick "suckers" with tons of rockers even in the park. but with that said i think their line up is painfully confusing

cool, ill have to check em out, atomic makes some pretty high quality skis right? i just hate to stop supporting the coolest brand in skiing LINE. come on line! id spend another 600 on lizzies, so worth it.

k2's line up is interesting this year, the revival looks like it could be a sick ski. i want to see how the flex is first.

Atomic makes some of the highest quality skis, in my opinion.  After all, they press almost every one of Armada's skis and people are usually impressed with Armada's build quality and ride quality.

Holy shit.

My One Lifes seem real durable...I've skied hard over lots of completely exposed rocks, stumps, fallen trees and all that low cover stuff, and the bases almost look new and the edges have small marks from it.  Coombas got destroyed on conditions like this, and my Pipe Cleaner's edges get scratched up way easier than my One Lifes or 09 Watch Lifes(which I haven't skied a ton).

But the 09 Watch Lifes tip is currently flat camber(meaning from the binding forward) and in a few days will be rockered, while the much stiffer tail will still be cambered.  That's the one thing I've noticed that matters at all.

I think Armada has softer edges so they don't crack much, but they get rounded and scratched a lot easier, where Surface has harder edges(which has been good for me..) that for you apparently crack on rails.

seriously? are they still held in place?  that seems pretty crazy, ive owned 2 pairs of surfaces and they have both been pretty damn tough, not great, but better than alot.  maybe you have a defective pair or somethin.

also i've been in contact with surface just today emailing back in forth. looking like they're not going to warranty them because "clearly you've been hitting park features".

well no fucking shit surface. they're fucking park skis. they only have four days of use. they shouldn't look like they have fourty.
such bullshit that a small company can do this to a customer.
i really doubt that i will buy another surface ski for the rest of my natural born life. especially if they don't warranty these fucked up p.o.s's that they sent me.

wow that sucks, i was about to get a pair but after seeing this probably not, its one thing if they are that weak, but if they arent gonna warranty their park ski for falling apart after being used in the park for 4 days thats just fucked up. 
companies need to realize when they fuck up.

okay, thats straight bullshit. they make park skis for a reason, to ski park, which includes rail and abuse, so man the hell up and stand by your product even if it still is a piece of shit....oh yeah, and heres the description of the ski..

Gaps? Check. Rails? Sure! Half Pipe? Uh huh! Basically you'll need nine lives to keep going with these puppies. Our snappy, yet even flex, of our Maple-Poplar Wood core will have you spotting landings, glazing cakes and buttering muffins all over the mountain. Tricks are for kids old man.

look at the third word. i see that you can do rails with these skis! but too bad they wont warranty them for rails.

at least they were only 400 bucks spence, which is relatively cheep for a ski

when a ski is advertised as a ski for rails then rails SHOULD NOT void the warranty. not to mention no where on the surface site does it say that rails void the warranty, hell they dont even have a terms of use on the warranty page

thats bull shit. at my mountain we have a rail jam every month and the first one this guy had surfaces and he snapped them in 2 when he 270 on the rail. but he got 3rd. now i know not to buy surface

well if you dont get those warrantied, i've lost all respect for what i thought was a legit up and coming brand. what a terrible to loose support. seems like yours had some sort of defect....which they should take care of. most other brands would.

anyway, back to the thread....anyone have any info on the flex of the fat-ypus g-butters? wheres the mounting point?

It may not be a defect. My friend got his this year. The middle of his skis about the size of a standard box, Is completely destroyed. The edges are gone in the center, and he's missing half of his base. Yeah you heard right, BASE. They are also Nine Lifes

ive heard for the majority of people bc will warranty your shit even if it voids factory warranty. my friend snapped his ninthwards after he mounted them himself for the second time and two years later they gave him full refund. seriously check their shit out and they have price match.
