I have been at Boyne mountain for the past couple of days. Its where my place is.   But there isnt much in the park yet.  I skied otsego and it was sick. but im not paying that much money to go back when its not open to the public.  Does anyone else know if other parks around here are nice?

Like schuss, crystal, highlands, nubs, crystal?

whats the word?

i talked to a friend that works at schuss and he said that their park is starting to shape up pretty nice.

I heard Crystals replacing the pipe with a jump line this year? Right under the clipper. Anybody know if this is true?

That would be super dope, but knowing Crystal, they'll find some way to fuck it up.

I heard that not building a 1/2 pipe is possible at Schuss this year also.   They have a fun park with a few options set up right now instead of it.   They also have a larger park set up with a 4 jump line,  2 propane tanks and 5 0r 6 jibs, including a 20' t-box urban set up.   No 1/2 pipe means Lots less snow to make, which saves money and the users like the jumps and rails/jibs better anyhow.    A nice 1/2 pipe is nice, but ????? What do others think?

Well they used to have that big ass 60 foot or watever kicker right where the pipe has been in recent years....that was sick. but yah a jump line consisting of smaller jumps would be pretty dope too.

Boyne will be better soon... if not this year, then next.  It's being completely overhauled by Adam Schrab (Kzoo skier in this year's Warren Miller Film)   His twin bro Luke is also redesigning Timber Ridge.  Hopefully they'll be making the changes by mid-season.

I dont think Boyne Mountains park last year was all that bad. It flowed rather smoothly if you ask me...they just need a jump line pretty bad, that one table at the bottom didnt really cut it.

But Highlands really needs to move their park, that hill is way to fucking steep and icy.

My conclussion = If you want rails, go to Mountain, if you want jumps, go to Highlands.

All boynes park crew including boyne mountain resort wants to get their park in transworlds top 200 parks. Like otsegos.

They are going to have three parks across the mountain. The only thing holding them back right now is 3 of their groomers were broken all over christmas break. So there were two groomers that had to groom the whole mountain. So the only time the park crew could get ahold of one of these cats was a slot from like 3am-8am.. and over break noone wants to work those hours. this is why over break there were no jumps and barley rails. Last weekend they got a cat in a good timeslot and did work. In just a couple hours they set up a sick rail line with a tire jump at the end. Supposedly they will have a sick park once they have access to more cats and more time. And they have said there will be a big features jump line on north boyne.. right next to the superpipe and another big booter at the bottom. along with a smaller jump line with rails along ramshead. where the half pipe was a couple of years ago. so lets see if they live up to what they say and hopefully its true!

mini park-

North Boyne run-
flat bar
flat bar
pipe
box, battleship
rail, box, down rail

but there will be more by this weekend

I've only ever seen someone throwing down in the pipe once at Nubs Nob after a huge snowstorm last winter.

Besides that the pipe is something that everyone just rides down the middle and goes wee off the corner of the jump at the end.

Never maintained shit but I am just going to guess maintaining and building a half pipe is a bitch, and a huge waste of space with no one making use of it.

Well you must not get up north a lot..
Nubs local rider won pipe at nationals last year.. so um you dont know..
And some locals from boyne are out in utah competing in pipe as we speak.. so yeah

Crystal has a 3 jump line now in the park, plus the a flat 20 footer and kink set up urban style to the side. then the rainbow and a frame.
third jump is around 30-35 feet...

The O Park is gonna be sick. I can't wait for opening day there. I've never rode there yet but my brother did the Mighty Midwest snowboard camp there and said it was awesome.

Jump line was really really good last year, but i hope they get some fresh ideas with the rail setups, got pretty monotonous last year, hope they get creative, i mean they have like 40 perfect rails and boxes from planet snow, which is awesome but they set most of them up in a grid formation, where they were all equally distanced and on a super flat hill which made it hard to keep speed through the whole line.  They should move more of them to the back hill where they have the bigger jump line or maybe use one of those race hills further back.

agreed. plus the vibe out there on a good day is really cool. plenty of back hills to cruise, and long chairlift rides=plenty of gaper watching. one of their boxes was completely covered in top quality topsheet, like the sides were covered in it, it was so excessive.the flat down with shelves on either side.
jumps were taller than usual for michigan, id say. rails were fun because there were alot in a row, but i agree they could use a switch up on that. fun place.
