Stop talking. Just stop. Barack Obama is not a Communist. You're confusing different political systems. If anything, you'd call him a Socialist, and even that doesn't make sense. Go to China. Go to Cuba. That's real Communism. Look at the former Soviet Union. That was a Socialist Republic. You don't even know. People called FDR a Socialist. Now he's regarded as one of the best Presidents of all time.
The people that the Congress (and Obama, by proxy) is trying to help are mainly low- to middle-class Americans. It's not about giving money to people who sit on their asses. It's about helping the people who are literally struggling just to keep their house, their car, their job. These people (most often) have jobs or have recently lost their job and are faced with a decision of literally putting food on the table or paying their mortgage. These are the people with three or four jobs just so that they can try to sustain themselves.
There was a list higher up of Obama's positive achievements, which I though was pretty spot-on. For example:
-The reparation of the US's image overseas (to an extent).
-Troop surge (with a plan) in Afghanistan.
-Closure of Guantanamo Bay.
-Passing a stimulus package that ultimately saved our economy from falling into a depression.
-Filling the stimulus package with long-term measures to make sure our economy continues to grow.
-Negotiating a climate framework that will be brought to fruition next year.
-Overhaul of the financial regulatory system.
-Massive progress on energy legislation.
-Of course, significant progress on healthcare reform.
Which brings me to another (rhetorical) question: would you seriously rather have your healthcare controlled exclusively by a consortium of private insurance companies, who don't really care about you as an individual so much as getting your money, than have your healthcare regulated (not completely controlled) by the government, which you have considerably more control over?
