Two questions

First, a battery problem. Is there any way to keep the battery from dying when it gets really cold? I can charge it completely the night before, and it still will start turning off when its really cold.


Second...so when I plug the camera into my computer (Mac) the memory card pops up in finder, and I can watch the clips in quicktime and they work fine. But when I upload to iMovie, it only imports exactly the first half of each clip. Anyone have any idea how to fix?

Isnt there a battery warmer?? I dont have GoPro yet, but thats I've heard/read O.O

Normally seen the Battery on the GoPro HD shouldn't have much trouble in the cold, that's why GoPro has opted for Li-Ion technology because it suffers less from low temp. such as NiCad would...
And i don't know about battery warmers on the GoPro but what i do is: when i don't use it, i keep it warm in my coat and when i do use it, i keep it turned on all the time and it stays warm, so maybe its because of the battery warmer or whatever but it emmits enough heat to keep "warm" in temps as low as -18°c

and about the importing problem, maybe try using some other program (im not much of a mac specialist)

and maybe your battery has been deeply discharged and it's broken (don't know if this is still possible with Li-Ion batteries, but with older batteries this could happen)

get a volt meter and check if your battery voltage is what it's supposed to be when its completely charged....

I had my gopro hd out in -2 to 15F for about 5 hours last Sunday. I recorded about 20 min of footage. The battery power went down one notch out of 3. It's possible you weren't fully charged up.

I think I just didn't have it fully charged, so that fixes that problem. but the importing is still a problem, and it fucking sucks. damnit

Use squared 5 MPEG Streamclip to convert the file to an editable DV stream, then import it into iMovie.

Ok I'll try that tomorrow, thanks. But I shouldn't have to, it uploaded clips from two weekends ago fine, with no problems. Then this weekend, it wouldn't work right, and I can't figure out what changed.

^ya so weird exact same thing is happening to me. i just filmed some random stuff and it uploaded to imovie totally fine. then i bring it up skiing and get some shots, but when i upload it to imovie half the clips are gone... its so frustrating

apparently its a compatibility issue between iMovie and mp4 files.
maybe you could try getting a file converter and convert it to something else before uploading towards your editor....
