Final Cut and Aperture VS. IMovie and IPhoto

So for all you Mac users out there I have a little question.  I just bought a Macbook Pro on Saturday but I have not yet bought better software for it.  I am an independent film maker so I figure that it is worth it to pay for the upgrade to Final Cut from IMovie, would you agree?  Also does anyone know what features Aperture offers over IPhoto and is that worth 200 dollars?

Like I said I pretty much figured that I would be going with Final Cut but since I have never used a Mac or its programs I am just asking what people think of it.. I made my first independent film on windows movie maker with a 100 dollar video camera you don't need the best to do good work.

Sorry, I'm not that big yet.  I am hoping to have my next film in a local film festival next fall.  I will let you watch that one when I finish.

i hate iphoto and aperture, it's all about lightroom

i've used both for a while and eventually got the lightroom demo and never went back, it's unbeatable

Yup. Don't even bother with Aperture. Lightroom is incredible.

Give final cut express a shot before dropping the money for studio.  Express may give you exactly what you need.

If you want good advice, don't ask on newschoolers, you'll most likely get bad advice, or no advice at all.  Your best bet is to search www.dvxuser.com, or apple.com and the links posted in the second post.

Seems like a lot of people use Bridge and Photoshop, I don't use either. I just go straight into Lightroom. Unless I have to seriously correct something (whiten teeth, take out stray hair, etc), then I can do all my processing right in Lightroom. Plus, I love the rating system they have and how easily it is to create collections.
