Din Binding size

I am about 175lbs and 5'11" ride a 7 on the DIN setting, I currently have Rossignol Axial 120's and I am looking to get another pair for new skis, the SAS2 110 or 120. I was wondering if i really need a 120 size binding even if my DIN is only at 7. I do hit some jumps, but im not doing any huge kickers or cliff drops.

The general rule of thumb is to try to get a binding where your din is close to the middle of the range on the bindings.  For instance, lets say the din range on your binders is from 3 - 12.  Ideally your din should be between 7 and 8. 

Another rule of thumb is to never set your dins withing two whole numbers of the minimum or maximum allowed by the bindings. 

These rules are not at all set in stone, they are just recommendations I've heard from a countless number of people.

Seriously?  I'm 5'11" and 140lbs with a BSL of 305mm and set mine between 5.5 and 6.5 (depending on the ski's flex). 

9 seems a tidbit high for you IMO.  Might want to think about lowering those dins a little bit.  :-)

Regardless of what you set your DIN at, the SAS2 120 or this year's Freeski2 120 both have a way more solid construction and design than the lower DIN'ed bindings.  The 120 is the level of binding where you get the race heel.  It will last a super long time.

have we not leanred anything from countless past threads, anytime the DIN discussion comes up there will be hundrets of 13 year old kids thinking its cool to claim how high there dins are

This. The difference in construction between the 110 and 120 is huge. The 120 is a much sturdier binding that will last a lot longer.

true that i blew out my acl a few seasons ago and now i would prefer too low of din over too high of one better safe than sorry.  Either use the din chart made for your bindings or take your damn skis to the shop where they have the din chart for your bindings. Don't be stupid
