Jon Olsson is a chubby guy?

So just like you I am an ardent follower of Jon Olssons blog and in his most recent post he was mentioning having trouble getting motivated for the gym. judging by the photos of him shredding in a GS suit, i think he needs to spend less time spraying champagne on people at parties and more time on the treadmill.

thoughts?

i totally agree jon slays for sure!!!!!! did he really invent the dub flip? thats fucking sick. i always thought some guys back in the 70s or something started doing dub flips, but thats just what my uncle says...who knows that he thinks

anyway, i dont really care, i just didnt know you could do tricks like that and be out of shape, thats all. h is still one of my biggest influences ever on skis, nothing will change that. i love his skiing and i will always read his blog, just thought ns might want to know or something

ps, i found this photo too and he does not look that chubby, so i take it back, sorry for the thread

ughhhhhhh not sure if Jon invented doubles, just found this video from the 80s of someone doing a dub.... i bet they were throwing them in the 70s too....

either way, i bet they would be stoked to know they can party hard and not work out but still do dubs and be at the top of their field! props to JON!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of Jon's biggest accomplishments has been his invention of several new double flips, which are two separate flips during one air. These include a D-spin 720 into a flatspin 540 (DJ Flip), a switch double rodeo 1080 (Hexo Flip), and his most famous one being a double flatspin 900 (Kangaroo Flip) which he used to win Gold in the Big Air at Winter X Games 08 and at Jon Olsson Invitational 2006.

Tanner Hall and Jon Olsson are the only people to hit Chad's Gap switch. Jon landed a switch 5 and attempted two switch misty 900s.

first of all, most of those tricks were either done by a) Mike Wilson, b) the Shrab Brothers, or c) someone that didn't affix an unconventional and confusing name to an otherwise standard trick. Call the trick what it is, not some wack ass name Jon forced announcers and judges to re-name tricks people have already done. Jon absolutely did not invent dub corks/ dub flips, he did however, help innovate them with a few other athletes including Mike Wilson, Jacob Wester, and the gentlman that did the risky flip all those years ago.

Second of all, Jon did attempt Chad's switch, however, he did not once land it. Switch misty nines and switch fives were thrown, but he didn't ski away from anything. As far as I know, the only trick he landed on that day of sessioning with Tanner was a spread eagle that can be seen in the credits of Teddy Bear Crisis.

Finally, his previous accomplishments and innovations are not the issue. The issue, or perhaps, topic of curiosity, is the theory that he's chubby. I was merely pointing out that, these photos would lead one to believe yes, he is a chubby guy.  No hate. No bashing on his prolific career, simply stating that he does not look as fit as he once did.

you'd actually be wrong, he sat down on the switch misty 9, but definitely skied away from it. it didnt make the movie out of respect for tanner, not being clean or whatever reason him and/or ostness decided. there used to be a head clip with a shot of it but it was online for a very short time. not sure about the 5 but id guess he landed it if it was attempted.

Wait are you being serious?
Jon is in better shape than almost every freeskier out there. The reason he isn't as skinny as he used to be is because he's racing now, and if you knew anything about racing you'd know that he is still about half the size as everybody else. Ever seen a picture of Bode Miller? He's like 6'3'' and 200 something lbs. He looks kindof fat, but is without a doubt in better shape than any person on this site.

i used to race, and no you dont really wear anything under your suit. except maybe a t shirt and a thin thermal top and bottoms for little warmth. he's pretty big, not fat or chubby

First off, triacks were landed that day and not just Tanners spread eagle. Secondly Jon is putting on weight for racing to get more on point witht he people he is competing with, but it's not like he's just eating twinkies and getting fat. He's probably on a solid diet and workout regiment. Thirdly this thread is dumb.
