I finally got the opportunity to go down to mad river mountain on friday and was very impressed. i had never been there before, my home "resort" is brandywine seeing as i live close to there and also have worked there for over 10 years. After reading about all the hype on newschoolers i thought that some things could have been a little over exaggerated but found out quickly that everything i read is true. the park setup is the best in ohio by far. They have at least twice the skiable acreage dedicated to park compared to brandywine and snowtrails. the rail setups were legit too. on friday i think they had 17 rails/boxes setup any which way you prefer for any kind of rail you prefer (flat, round or box). the three jump line was crazy with good pop on the second hit. the management team in place really understands the freestyle wants and needs and definitley have it figured out. the fact that they had at least 5 more rails set aside that weren't set up makes me believe better things are yet to come. I skied there for 7 hours on friday and didn't get everything accomplished that i wanted to. For all the people who are with a couple hours drive of mad river you def. need to go out there to see what it is all about. Mad river has got to be your closet cheapest change of scenery for park riding away from your home "resort". Im not positive on this but you may be able to get a discount on lift tix if you have a bmbw pass since they are owned by the same comapny, peak resorts.
