Maybe with a good bike lamp it would work. I bought one last year and was really blown away by how much light it produces. Gonna try it out this winter.

Here's a good exemple of the beam it produces. The tent in the back is 60 years away.

i've taken some night runs on hut trips before, kind of sketch, but lots of fun, no trees at night for me though

BTW most of them can be attached to an helmet and you can easily carry the small battery pack in your backpack or pocket

let me clarify, do not use a headlamp. take one with you of course but you want your night vision to be primary.
and this isn't something you want to do in someplace in the Northeast with tight trees. you need to be skiing open tree shots at the least.

It takes 45 min for your eyes to fully adjust, but they will. your eyes start making a chemical called rhodopsin that stimulate the rod cells that distinguish light and dark, these are much more concentrated in your peripherals. So, you don't have as great of vision in the center, but your peripherals are pretty good. You also can't really see color, but who cares?

Seems scary. One time when I was a wee lad (13 or 14) I ducked a rope onto a slope with no lights at night with a buddy of mine.  Things went okay (still scared because you can't see far in front of you) until my friend literally missed hitting a deer by about 2 feet and we were both so freaked out that we never did it again.

I ski trees at night quite a lot living in Niseko, and often go pretty far away from the lights to get the fresh, it can be a bit scary, but generally it's just amazing fun. I've never used lights or anything like that. It's not 24 hours here, but you can ski 13 hours lift accessed.

Last night was particularly epic, vis was good, the mountain was quiet and there's been well over a metre of snow in the last few days, had to duck some ropes, but had probably the deepest turns of my life, choking faceshots for 5 turns in a row, had to stop to breath. Was a similar story for the next 10 or so runs.

Also been up to Berthoud pass (near Winter Park) on a full moon night, that can be really fun too, but you have to hike.

if there is no falling snow then this might work. but if it is snowing when you try this it'll fuck with your vision by reflecting the light back into your face. the same reason you don't drive with brights on in the snow.

Just tryed it. Sketch as fuck. The hill behind my house is about 700 feet in vertical, and its steep as fuck, tight trees, hardcore east coast shit. I did it with like, a chinsy mining worklamp, one that flips down towards your face, and I did a flying leaf down a steep section, then jumped into the next open stretch, the light flipped down, blinded me, and I ate shit, in steep trees, in the dark, on no more than ten inches of snow.

I sessioned my booter and 21 foot rail though, and that was really nice with the light
