I Need Some New Skis. HELP!

Hello! I've had my first generation dumonts for awhile and theyre reaching the end of their life.

I'm 6'3", 165 lbs, ride 80% park, 20% trees and groomers. I want a ski that has a swing weight as light or lighter than my dumonts, with a bit more flexibility, durability, and a waist at or around 90mm.

I'll be using them with FKS 120's and full tilts.

For 80% park I would centre mount. For best performance on groomed at centre I'd go symmetrical.
For your height and weight that leaves you like three options.
Stiffest to softest (Don't know between the Wall/Blue steel just guessing).
186 Reno Jibs
185 Volkl Walls
181 ON3P Blue Steels (I hear they measure long)

yeah i was considering all of those. too bad the rocker isnt flexible like it used to be, i feel like it would be perfect if it were. the walls seem great, and people love them, im a little worried about the stiffness though, *anyone who has them, an analysis would be very helpful*.
The on3p's also seem very nice, I'm hoping to spend at most arounf $400-$450 though... Which i could get away with if they were last years, but that's impossible for the onp3's.

Also, It might help to know that I live in wisconsin, so the vertical rise is only about 300-500 feet most of the time.

Would going asymetrical and mounting barely back from center open up many more options?

Too bad the afterbangs don't come any larger. they sound perfect from what I've read. Does anyone know if they'll have larger sizes for next year?

Anthem or Chronic, line's run 3cm longer than what they read so a 178 is a 181 aka they'll fit you fine

You want more flex but with your size you want a pretty stiff ski, i dont know the dumonts flex, but ive heard that the dogmas have a super low swing weight, abuse base for sliding rails, and are 86 in the waist they have a medium-hard flex not super stiff not flexy. afterbangs also would be a good idea, but they may be a little too flexy.

No they run long, Line and K2 measure the running length not the tip to tip length so they're longer than described. I'm looking at them right now.

Another ski to look at would be Moment Jib's 86 waist and come in 181 and 186 cm's. I've heard they're a stiffer ski but are tons of fun everywhere in the park.

do line's measure differently too? I guess that would make sense coz i've got line blends and i've tried afterbangs and chronics and they all seem to ski a bit longer than i expected

Haha..they don't measure running length.  That would put a 181 at about 158.  K2 measures tip to tip no slack, while most companies measure along the curvature of the ski.  And LINE is different than K2.  My 181 Chronics were within .5cm of 181, measuring along the base, tip edge to tail edge.

I will recommend 180 Watch Lifes(09) if that isn't too short..  Also Fujas(179, measures 183.5ish) will probably be the best for all kinds of park plus all mountain stuff if you said you wanted a softer ski.  185 ARVs are another one..

Don't mount center, it will mess with what those 2 skis were designed to ski like and lower performance a ton.  It's not harder to spin a ski -2.5 back or to ski switch with one..but it will carve better and have WAY better all mountain performance mounted a few back.

all i know is that my 166 armada ar6 is a hair shorter than my friends 171 line chronics...

If you can find last years volkl walls in a 185 they would be perfect. They aren't that stiff. I rode them and they were fine.
The Moment Rocker is still soft enough to butter so if you are looking at those, don't think they are a stiff ski either.

Asymmetrical and back from centre would open up a few more options but i think that the walls are probably the best one.
That said if you want a jib ski, for butters and playing about and a bit more float in trees the Rocker can't be beat. The Wall is less buttery but not too stiff. Either is gonna be sick to be honest.

Thats very good to know, they both sound awesome. Their dimensions are perfect.

If anyone could compre the flex of either the walls or the jibs directly to the '08 dumonts that would be perfect. Its hard to judge wether the flex would be what I'm looking for without having them compared to my current pair.

I'll be able to try my friend's pair of 171 anthems over the weekend, so I can better describe the flex I want based on those aswell.

i can get the '08 walls for $300 in a 185. is there any reason for me to want the '09s or '10s instead (because of improvements, obviously)? these seem more versatile than the rockers, and since i skis almost only in the midwest, i dont think ill benefit too much from the rocker anyway. the moment jibs are sick, and id rather support moment, but i can neither justify nor afford spending the extra $225 on such a similar ski to the walls. same story for the on3p's.

i could also wait for the wider afterbangs that will replace the anthems for '11, but i dont know if the sizes will be any larger than 177, and the walls could sell out if a wait more than a week or two, but i am speculating.

Opinions?

Ok i just found them for $235. i feel like if i didn't go for this than i would be a dummy. can anyone second this?
