New X games Skiing Event

Xgaymes doesn't care about the competition. It doesn't care about other skiers and boarders that watch or used to watch. They care about making a ton of money from a ton of noobs who never will set foot on skis or a snowboard.

ITs all about money, like the text to vote last year. That made all those idiots so  happy. Xgaymes has been moving in the wrong direction for years.

Hopefully some other comp tours will pop up and get it legit again.

This event is true x-games.  Your typical xgames fan knows nothing about winter sports but loves to see stuff that makes them go "wow did u see that shit".  Yes Simon is clearly the best suited to win this but I dont think it was made just for him.  In the 04 winter x games that thovex won pipe in, ski pipe was the highest tv rated event of the games.  The big difference that year was the change in amplitude.  The next year X-games put ski pipe in the top prime time spot at night for a reason.  Expn knows what will get them the ratings and they go after the ratings and thats about all there is to it.  I wish Dew tour got prime time tv spots. I think the Dew tour would become the top ski events of the year and kick x games to the side like the screwed up freak show that expn makes it each year.

To another level? The only event more primitive than biggest air is who can hit the top speed. This event is fucking stupid.

Haha that's gonna be ridiculous, it probably won't last that long though. It's just an attempt to get people to go bigger in pipe instead of being as tech. Anyway, it's just more money out there in the industry. No problems with that.

I think it will be cool, more exposure for skiing nothing wrong with that.

I'm perfectly happy with a bunch of skiers that know a decent amount about the sport and every person in the park not being Joe Schmoe in his Burton Shaun White suit sitting on landings and doing "Flippers" or "Spinnies" and walking around school as a "Hard Core Rider". That's just not my taste.
I thought about it a lot this past winter. I am friends with so many boarders and so many boarders are sick riders but everyone looks up to Shaun and he is the most marketed boarder. It's like skiing (freestyle) is pretty underground in my eyes while Snowboarding has it's sport (Stuff you see on X-Games(Shaun White) and what you hear from every kid at Zumiez (Buying a SICK SETUP which matches every other kid at his mountain)) and it's own underground which is people progressing the sport on the DL. I basically said that anything that isn't Shaun White is underground (What the hell am i thinking) but that's just how it appears to me. Basically just saying that i don't want skiing where snowboarding is now.
But i'd like it to be seen by all and respected by all, in it's own way. Just no fucking snowboard gapers turning to skiing gapers, and making NS accounts and post whoring or making the "what ski should i get" thread with no information at all and 3 posts.
We have enough money in the industry, i want those awesome low key companies to get big no doubt but what good happens from that? technology is being pressed as hard as every with minimal funding because if an idea fails, so does your company but if it works. . . . . then you sir. . . . HAVE FULLTILTS!

Thats how it works. Thats why they would skip airing slopestyle finals sometimes, but show every heat prelims to finals of snow cross, lap for lap.

I used to bmx, and all i rode were trails, with the occasional skatepark. Loved watching bike dirt at x, and then a few years they didn't even show it on tv, or showed a 1 min recap, while showing practice on some events.

It's just about making money. They don't care about the sports at this point. There catering to the people who don't even ride or ski but love to watch x games.

yeah the announcing is always just okay. i understand that you have to break it down for people that dont know the jargon, but (not to be a dick but) a lot of the time i know i could do a better job. explain what certain tricks are, explain why theyre hard or cool or in style, or whatever.

Uh, that's gonna kill the snowmobilers. Anybody ever try that on your bikes when you were little kids? Did it ever end in any non-crash related events.

Speaking of that, I cleared like 7 feet and a few inches on a razor scooter off one of those plastic ramps back in the day. I can't remember if I hit 8 feet. We also did height, my friend broke his ankle really bad doing that.
