Anybody else sidelined for the season?

so my story is, i was sleding at the hill, and i was running up the hill, and some kid decided it would be funny to see me fall... HILARIOUS!!!!   threw a crazy carpet under my foot, and i came back and landed on it. Now i'm just getting out of the hospital (5days,luucky me) 6 pins and a plaate and casted for 6 weeks... I had soo much going for me. Joining the reserves, i was 67 days away from my childhood dream. I can't ski for 2 months (docter said i would be in too much pain to even ski this year but said thats the earliest i can put a boot on) and now my life (or so it seems) is over..

So i was wondering if anybody else can't ski this year, and what is your way of dealing with it ?

I've had back problems since i was about 12. Last spring I was running track and it got especially bad. I went to the doctor, got as MRI, I had a bulging disk in my lower back. I did PT for the rest of the spring, and the entire fall. Winter track started 2 weeks ago. I ran for a week and my pain came back. I'm having a bone scan later this week to see if I've got a stress fracture. It really pisses me off that I get this pain because I really love running and I'm pretty good too (claim).

Luckily it doesn't hurt at all when I ski, only when I run.

thanks man, it sucks so much.. I Just finished building a rail there. BEfore i went sleding i waxed my skis so i could do that rail later too.

i'm not going to lie, i want too.  But i don't want to be the asshole that sues him, but then i thiink he was asshole enough to want to see me fall.

Even tho i live in canada anybody think i have a valid case, if i choose to sue him ?

I'm out for two months as well, well, a little over a month left...broke my clavicle..I also separated my other shoulder my first day out, but that's healed already...I feel your pain man, and I hope you shove it in that doctors face and ski hard when you get back...you know your body so you'll know when you're good, no matter what the doctors say..

Man that's brutal. how can you live with that. the closest thing i can compare that to is that I got symmetric muscle tears in my left and right quads that come back any time I sprint. it's annoying but it's not nearly as bad as your injury.

hope you feel better soon. by the way, as soon as your leg heals, KICK THAT MOTHERFUCKER RIGHT IN THE GNARDS!

Holy shit! hes such a motherfucker!

Im one of em that cant ski too this year...Had a few surgarys and and...OMG my life seems to be over too...especially when i see Pro Movies and and...and all the stuff on facebook and here..makes me so damn mad

i need to talk to u bruh!
i really dont know what im gonna do now :(

you don't relize how much you use both your legs and walk when you can't, you can't do the little things in life without help.    aha i want to kick him in the GNADS HARD, because of him my life is ruined for the next couple months.    eh, could be worse. 

man thats sucks about it hurting to run, especcialy if thats what you like to do, and everytime you're going to do it, it's going to hurt. get better man.

oh man i feel so bad for u two seasons ago i broke my left shoulder and right hand at the same time and i couldnt feed myself or anything it sucked..... sue that bitch too

that sucks really bad dude, I feel for ya, I was out last year till febuary, cracked my kneecap in half playin football, it was torture....hope ya have a smooth recovery, and definetly dont do shit your not supposed to, I took my knee brace off early and the doctor yelled at me bad

You have a very valid case and he is totally in the wrong, but in Canada we cant just sue fuckers because of that shit. But you could track him down and have him pay "compensation" for your injuries and whatever else he messed up. Like a bit of depression due to no skiing, or missing work, but because in this lovely country we have health care, any of that money that doesnt go to sending you to specialty doctors will go in your pocket so to speak, or your parents. That would teach him a thing or two.

well, i live in canada. My Insurance coverd it.  But i can't money back from skiing memberships, team fees, gym memberships. and my job tht started in feburary i'm missing about 3/4 grand this year, because of this kid.

i'm deffinitly going to go take pictures of my friends when they go jibbin. but for the mostpart its tough to hop around on one leg in snow, and ice.

mike.armada: thanks for the response. That's what i think i'm going to do. Considering (in my post before this all the money i'm loosing.) and the fact is i'm getting mad depressed considering i can't reff, can't play hockey, can't ski, and can't do my reserve training.) i'm loosing out on a lot, and withthe money i was making, i was going to build up my bike this winter. My life is ruined for the next few months forsure, and i'm probley going to have ankle problems for a longtime now.  Some cash to compensate for all of this would be lovely.

I can still get into the reserves, but my bmq course started feb 15th and, i can't do that now. i'd have to go away for the summer now.  where about's are you located?

and to the person who said sueing people's whats wrong with america: Man, i have no source of income now. i'm still in highschool. But i pay my way everywhere. Everything i own is from working. Because of this injury, i'm broke. absolutely broke. Sure i'm mad, i've never accutaly been more pissed of in my life. My life was going down the drain, in every possible way. It did start back up, with my course coming up, getting my full license, getting my lvl 2 reffing. When i ski, everything, no matter what's wrong in my life is perfect again, even if it's just for a few hours. I've been waiting (as long as everybody on this site for those few hours.) i'm in no way trying to bitch about this, but is it alright that this kid gets a laugh out of seeing other people fall ? Somebody he never even met before ? Sure, hahaha. it was funny, I fell. You can't go around doing shit like this. He deserves it.

Yeah dude, like honestly, you need to go after him. He's a complete dick for doing that...more than that. But you shouldn't be payin for those medical bills and you need compensation for any issues that might come up in the future (e.g. chronic back pain from a car acident). I think you need to file a report and sue his ass. Do you get his name or did the little shit make a run for it? Things might be / seem really bad now, but you are alive and things will get better. Keep your chin up. Karma is a bitch and he will get it. +++vibes to you though and I wish you all the best.

for the most part, he ran. I cursed, yelled, and bitched, and was in too much pain to conisder asking him questions. I bet he was scared at first. he then came back and said it was an "accident" when he tried to trip my buddie right before.  AGain i really don't have any medical bills, insurance covered everything. I was told i would have ankle pain for the rest of my life, and artharitis when i'm older due to the plate, and pins.  SKiing will probley hurt, so skiing competetivly bumps will be harder on me. i'm going to still. It's my favorite thing in the world.  Brightside his olderbrother is friends with my neighbour, and i'm getting his info through my neighbour. Eh, could be worse? couuld be in a full leg cast, you're right life is just going to get better.

When it comes down to it, the decision is yours to make. In all honesty, you would be very wise to go after him--especially since you were told that you would have ankle pain for the rest of your life and arthritis when you are older because of the plate and pins.

I actually don't know the best way to go about it but, you may first just wanna talk to him and tell him what you are thinking of doing and maybe he wont wanna deal with a middle man. but I would have to think that a lawyer would be the best place to start, because if what you say is true than he is jipping you from lots of $$ you could be making.

Had surgery and now have12 stitches which are on my lower back so everytime I move it sucks.

Im out till first week of feb.

had knee surgery 2 weeks ago, and just started the workout regiment. so as long as i can get back in shape and get my flexibility back i should be good to go, but will have to be careful when im back.

I broke my leg 2 weeks before graduation, my birthday, prom, and 3 weeks before my shipment date for reserves in 04. i have a metal plate and pins too on the side of my ankle. but because of it I was able to pick a job I really wanted to do instead of the military. I am now in school for physical therapy to fix idiots like us and it made me realize that is what makes me happy. I love my classes to do with PT stuff. So trust me it is not the end of the world.

ahh, so i can wigggle my toes ! i feel happy about that. IT only took a week and a half. but eh, i can now.

SUby: how long did it take you heal completely ?

sprained/broke my ankle last night really bad. worst possible time too because i have the next two weeks off and planned to ride and film like almost every day. it really sucks man i feel for you...at least mine will only take 3-4 weeks i'm guessing if its not broken, you are out for way longer

i broke my ankle with plate in leg around may 30th. i was skiing by december, but i noticed it took me over 20 pairs of boots trying on before I found a pair soft enough and comfortable enough to NOT bother the plate. i had a spiral fracture up my leg. so it was on the outside where most boots rub. Full tilts have that nice wrap around which helps I'm sure you'll be fine by december

I've got a spiral fracture too, but it took you from may to december to ski ................    (it's almost janurary now too;)) but, the guy with the aacl hope you can ski soon too man, i know what it's like.  

I'm hopeing to be able to ski now around feburary. (if i'm lucky X a million)

any body have any ideas to pass time? I can't take this shit anymore. I've been on ns, and facebook, playing xbox for about a week now. almost 1 1/2 weeks down, 4 1/2 weeks left casted...... God help me now.

well it is too join the regular force. I'm only a junior in highschool, I've really just wanted to join the forces for as longas i can remember, and going reserves is my best option/only right now. When i'm done school I sure as heck am going too.

Yeah in Canada the military works differently than in the states. Im pretty sure you have to join the reserves first then advance after completion of training, thats what my buddy did.
