Akai LPK25 + LPD8 or MPK25?

alright, im looking for a portable studio to make beats. i cant really travel with my Korg and i want a beat pad that i could hypothetically sync up to my controller to play sample loops. so my question is, do i go for the larger single unit MPK25 or the set of two micro-MIDI's?

I'd say go for the mpk25, you get an extra few pads and knobs for programming to whatever you want but also I think the feel of it would be a lot better just because you have everything laid out together. Plus if you ever wanted to get into production the 25 would make it easier to do that since its got more features integrated right into the unit. Just my 2 cense

i am getting reason 4.0 hopefully off a friend soon so i will need a keyborad

well i already have a korg and other midis, this is just my portable studio i guess you could say.

also, i have Ableton and i dont really wanna pay for the extra software. so i dunno. thats why im leaning towards the smaller micro controllers. thing is though, i dunno about their quality.

Ah..I gotcha, have you looked into the Novation Launchpad? Could work really well too, especially since is made for Ableton.

Holy shit the launch bad looks sooo badass!!

I want to get a keyboard once I get some money. I have a KP3, which doesnt really do shit for making music.

Also check out the monome if you havent already. Such an amazing controller. Not keyboard tho...

yeah the launchpads are so sick, as are the monomes (just expensive) I just ordered an APC40 which is also incredible if you haven't seen it check it out

ive done my reasearch for a fucking while, and i decided on the mpk25 (for me personally) i mean, its small, it has 12 physical pads, (48) and it has a decent set of knobs and keys.

I personally would go with the mpk25, but thats just me.

I've got a launchpad now, but I'll be upgrading to an APC40 after the new year. I wish I could just have both, that'd be so much fun, but I don't have the money, it's gotta be one or the other.
