So I got my pipe cleaners mounted about 2 weeks back, have been skiing on them the last two weeks. But today, My heel piece of my jesters come straight outta the ski and the holes are stripped. And I looked at the binding and see the tech didnt screw one of the screws all the way in. WTF? what should I do? I need a new pair of skis real fast. The shop should give me new skis shouldnt they? But what kind of arguments are they gonna throw at me and what arguments should i throw at them?
Yeah from how you explained it i can't tell how bad the holes are stripped. Knowing most shops they will prob just remount it for you. I mean you shuold show some pics. But i highly doubt they will warranty or even replace your ski. They'll prob remount your skis for free.
Is the top sheet just cracked or can you notice actual wood crack?? If its the wood, then then its the shops fault they shld replace it for you. Your only hope is that the shop doesnt argue saying that they did it correctly and you fucked it up yourself. Go to the shop with a calm non violent attitude. tell them they fucked up and your neck hurts or something so they feel sorry. and they shuold replace/fix the ski.
I had the same kind of problem with my toe piece. The shop should remount them for free. If you go that route you should get them heli-coiled and that should fix your problem. Though, If you truly feel like the rip out ruined your skis go in and talk to them. Tell them that they messed up, and owe you some kind of compensation. If your dealing with a bigger company like REI you'll have a better shot of compensation than some local shop ( or at least from my experience). However, you never know with shops. They'll probably just blame it on you doing rails and jumps.
They fill the holes you ripped out with plastic, and then re-mount your heel piece into that. From there your heel piece is pretty solid. Ended up having to do that to both my toe pieces after rip outs, and haven't had problems since. Im not sure of the negative sides of a heli-coil though. Seeing as how you just had your bindings mounted recently the shop should cover it for free. If not its not all that expensive for a heli-coil.
that exact same thing happened to me last year landing switch on a small jump, same bindings and skis, top sheet kinda "volcanoed" and the shop sanded it back down, and remounted it for free
