i find that since my mtn is so small that i can go from top to bottom without turning, its kinda boring. and then when im going straight down its not even that fast so im just standing there with my poles at my side thinking about something else. it feels stupid

for all of you that have only ever ridden straight park skiis,   buy a legit pair of parabolic skis that can carve. theres a lot more to skiing than the park...

first of all how many straight park skis have you seen? not that it would be a bad idea for rail skis to cut down on swing weight (copyright rich williams 2009). Also how many modern skis are truly "parabolic" that term died in like the mid 90's.

don't buy a pair of "carving" skis unless you want to get bored of carving on groomers after like one day.

the terminology isnt important,, you know what i mean.
im just trying to say that its not all about the park, ive skid on park skis and carving skis and you can really feel the difference.   most park skis out of the park are as useless as carving skis in the park.

 I ski @ PNS (Perfect North Slopes) mainly which is a really fun little hill. But I also ski @ paoli peaks. Both of which were made fun of in Traveling Circus.

what carving skis are you talking about?

I can carve just fine on my park skis, I have tried slalom skis before and as I sad they are fun for maybe an hour, then you want your twins back

at mount snow i literally cannot get enough speed to make aggressive turns unless i'm skiing on the north face, so no, i basically go straight and lean slightly either way just so it looks like i'm turning

Literally a ditch; it's on the side of the Winnipeg Floodway, so it gets flooded every spring.
Apparently, there are 10 "runs". Realistically, there's only 2. A park side and a non-park side.

I think Walka and I win the 'tiniest skiable hill' award, along with any other shitless Manitoban.

haha I love how they have to build a mound at the top because there is not enough vertical on the entire hill to gain speed for the table.

hahahahaha this mtn fucken blows i live like 20 minutes from here skid for my highschool here would never cnosider coming here if i had to pay to go theres maybe 5 runs tops open during the winter and the park sucks huge balls...if they stepped up the park at this mountain they could seriously revive the mountain and make some money

this is the closest mountain to me at the moment. literally take less than a minute to come down even if you are fucking around, if you straight line i swear it's about 15 seconds. the only benefit is it's free for college kids soo...

Think I'm pretty happy I live in Europe... Though I only have a indoor slope through the year (with awesome Nike 6.0 park ^^) I am able to go to the French Alpes on the vacations, when you have like 2000/3000 metre mountains =D

Think I would be bored pretty soon when I wouldn't turn, but I practise riding switch and carving a lot, cause I'm not that good at skiing yet =)

Just pick up speed and then make the sharpest turn possible, to pull some gs on the snow is fun. Yeah I turn though, not much. Going fast is fun and where I go isn't usually too small.

Well at my home mountain (Perfect north in Indiana) I don't have to turn on 95% of the runs but the ones with trees and ice you have to turn or you'll die.

But at Big Sky I have to turn a lot since I am pretty sure I would die if I straight lined the mountain considering the amount of moguls that build up sometime and I am still going fast even with turning.

All depends on where you ski.

I really disagree with this. I think that park skis carve just fine on normal snow outside or inside the park. On an icy racecourse, not so much, especially without edges. However, even if a park ski might be soft as fuck and have a mellower cut, they can still carve just fine. I mean carving is a big part of park skiing Whether people realize that or not, it means that park skis have to be able to carve well. I mean it has a side cut, put it on snow and lean into it and it will carve, there's really not much more to it than that...
