Girlfriend skiing??

So I was just wondering if anyone here has ever taken their girlfriend to go skiing for her first time. I really don't know if I should do this. I'm kinda thinking I'll be miserable the whole time haha. Has anyone ever done this and should I?

I took my gf to New Zealand this year, she had never skied before.

I have never seen anyone so keen to get out every morning. She did half day classes then hung out with me in the arvo. She went out and bought all her own gear and is on her way to becoming really fucking good!

I'd give her one more full season and she is seriously gonna shred

I personally do everything i can to avoid this situation. I know that the only outcome would probably be a miserable one. It would just be too frustrating for the both of us.

Yea it would be great to share the love of my life with the female in my life, but until i get a girl that is actually a skier the two are going to have to remain separate.

Ive done this before aswell, turned out well but I was miserable while skiing the tiny slopes while all my friends were having fun in the park

my girl is an amazing skier so it's not a problem for me. i would definitly not take a girl skiing for the first time, it gets so boring and you won't have fun at all.

i cant imagine it being fun. im taking my best friend (stereotypical princess chick) skiing this winter and im dreading it hardcore.
if i ever dated any guy who didnt ski i dont think i could make myself teach him.

my bf used to have a backyard set up so he taught me how to ski by trying to hit the rail. i caught on fast and now i ski all the time. it's only been about one and a half seasons and i can keep up with all the boys

You will probably find her less attractive after seeing how hopeless uncoordinated she is so I wouldn't recommend it.

To find a girl that already skis or snowboards would be cool. Maybe wait until your relationship is a bit further along? So if she gets all angry or something like that, it wouldn't wreck your relationship.

oh my god this girl was indirectly begging me to take her up the other day. i just kept making jokes about the situation. no way in hell il do that. i wont be able to give her the attention she wants cuz il zip off and go rip a line or shred some rails. faaaaack

Im doing this on Saturday!  And im stoked, i took a different girl last year and it was okay, we spent a lot of time hiking and filming while waiting for her, but thats okay.

The girl im taking saturday has skied quite a bit, so i'll let you know how that goes.

I'm planning on taking by girlfriend skiing. hopefully it wont be a powder day because that would be torture. but she used to ski a lot and she never complains about anything.

yeah i dono how fun that sounds. could be hell, but it could also be awesome. guess it depends on how patient/good at teaching you are, and how easily she picks it up. but i used to shred with my girlfriend (who could ride beforehand) and it was fun, and she always wanted to jump my bones afterward cause apparently watching me ski turned her on.. sick!

You just need a girl that a) already shreds, or b) is pretty competitive in other sports and is willing to learn. I think it could be fun for her to learn if she really wants to, and commits to it--either that, or buy her a lesson (less drama), then she can show you what she learned after her lesson.

Either way, I'm SO glad I don't have to deal with it. My girlfriend and I both love skiing, and since we're both pretty good there's no conflict. Plus, she's pretty badass too-- last season we both learned backflips, I learned 7's, and she learned 5's--I'd consider that pretty successful. We both push each other, and neither of us is "keeping up" with the other, its pretty sweet :)

My girlfriend is way better than me. She races and trains everyday. She's spancered by Cebe. Not gonna be able to ski with her much this winter though, she'll be busy practising instead. Trying to get her into the park.

All the girls i've taught loved it.

just be really patient and make it fun.

You just have to know that you're there to be with her, not to ski like you normally would. You'll have to save that for another day.

if you wanna spend some mulah you could have used for yourself to shred and you feel like putting up with complaining and multiple lodge trips along with a loss of personal ski time.... go for it.

My chick is decent enough at snowboarding to where she can at least keep up and not slow me down that much.  The trick is to bring your girlfriend AND one of her friends, so you can ditch her if you want to go shred the gnar for a little bit. 

As for teaching a girl to ski, my rule of thumb for everyone learning is that they will hate the first day and never want to go again after the first ten minutes, but if you can get them back again they usually have fun on the second day.  Its funny, I've taught probably like 10 people to snowboard but I've never taught anyone to ski.  Even though I don't snowboard anymore really at all I find it easier to teach than skiing because I had to "learn" to snowboard, whereas with skiing I learned when I was so little its like it just happens and I'm not really aware of the technique going into it.

I would say don't do it... thats how my EX and i broke up she went down the hill... Demolished the orange safety net and shattered wrist. Needless to say she hated me after that and our two year relationship fell apart really fast after that.
