Girlfriend skiing??

So I was just wondering if anyone here has ever taken their girlfriend to go skiing for her first time. I really don't know if I should do this. I'm kinda thinking I'll be miserable the whole time haha. Has anyone ever done this and should I?

teaching her is easy, putting up with her is not.
she will complain, cost double the amount of money, and stop you from actually shredding.

No!!!! Don't do it unless you are trying to get her to break up with you.  It's a no win situation. One time I saw a woman take off her engagement ring and throw it at her fiancee.  He was teaching her how to ski and thought it would be a good idea to take her down an easy mogul run.  Buy her a lesson.

mine already new how to ski decently..i hated it though, its just not fun. completely ruins your time IMO. infact, just get rid of the girlfriend...

LOL! i humped my EX, in the woods at northstar looking over the lake. awesome, BUT all i wanted to be doing was throwing down off the perfect jumps. girls are best for after skiing,

My girlfriend converted from snowboarding to skiing this year, and the first few days were rough, but ten days later she's 50-50ing boxes and skiing green runs switch. In the park, she doesn't hit any large features, but she's fast enough to not really slow me down, and if I'm skiing backcountry she just skis groomers with her snowboarder friends. And she likes ski movies now. Definite win.

I guess it depends on the person. If she really really wants to learn to ski, it'll be good. If she only kinda wants to learn to ski, it might be really really bad.

Damn. The first 10 days were rough?! I'm just hoping to go on a day trip with her. And she doesn't really even want to ski. She just wants to hang out with me. Maybe we should just go tubing instead.....


Nah we'll just go to her house.

My girlfriend as been skiing since she's 4, quitted for snowboard about 4 years ago and came back to ski last year.. This year, i made her buy a pair of 161 anthem with axial 120 and she said she wanted to learn a bit of park and hang out with the guys (she's like friend with all my fellow park skier friends which is pimp because she can have a good time following us/hitting easy features in the park to learn) and she like the Newschoolers thing, shes got stickers on her helmet and on her skis !

2nd day on the slopes with her and i have absolutely no regrets because she follows me and let me shred as much as i want, sometime she leaves us and ride groomers for a while. Jesus thanks for a girl like this !

I wont take a girl skiing unless she can shred and be down to shred all day. So many failures happened taking girls to the mountains, they complain, they're slow, they get lost, etc. I can only date a girl that is completely uninvolved with skiing and has no desire to learn or with one that can shred. No snowboarders either, they can't traverse, and they're wayyy too fucking slow.

I got my g/f into skiing, she is decent for only been 6 times, she makes it down the hill just fine without crashing, and just cruises at her own pace. she has done a box a bunch of times with only 1 fall. I love that she likes skiing and wants to get better, but i couldnt ski every time with her at her pace. either way love the g/f for sharing a common hobbie

It's a mixed bag. My ex went with me about 10  times a year for a few seasons. It was fun getting road head on way to mtn and stuff. But it was frustrating hearing her bitch and moan about how its "too cold" or shes "too hot" because I "MADE" her wear her underarmour shirt. Looking back, she was just a whiny bitch actually haha.

There are girls who are mad chill and can rip, I go with one girl occasionally who is that way but I got no feelings for her. Usually its a bad idea tho. They get pouty and can ruin a good day if you got buds there who just wanna rip shit up.

I've tried to teach a girl to ski before.... it sucks. Just sit there and watch them fall on their ass all day... that was my ex.

But my current girlfriend is almost better than me. So I can say much now ;)

I don't really want to pay for her lessons. I remember my first lesson. It took forever and I fucking hated it! I don't really want to put her through that. Especially since we will only go this one time. I don't want to sit on the god damn bunny slope either. I can't stand those n00bs. And that stupid escalator. WTF I'd rather sidestep up.

find another NS'r and have him bring his g/f, drop the girls off and go hit the park. its a win win situation, they ski and talk girly crap, you hit the park and progress.

If she want's to then you don't really have a choice other than no girlfriend do you.
Maybe she'll be really good, but maybe not, chances are it'll be a good experience.

But don't go on a day that your buddies from out of town are gonna be there to shred,
or a beautiful sunny park day, or an epic pow day, or a fucking cold day because that'll
just make her complain a lot.

no no no, whatever you do do not take her skiing ... unless you want to ebd your relationship do not do it. it will end in tears! i've experienced the horrors of teaching a girlfriend to ski first hand and no man should ever have to go throught taht pain!

My ex girlfriend skied and my current girlfriend always felt left out that she couldnt be a part of the hobby that consumes my life, so I took her up to the local hill and spent the day teaching her. Expect to get bitched at a little bit at the beginning, but by the end of the day she was confident on the greens =) Just dont expect to have a good day shredding yourself, go up with the purpose of teaching your lady and be patiient. It can actually be a good time, she wants to go again so I'm going to take her up again over the break, mustve done something right!

My dad taught my mom to ski back in the day, and they ended up getting married and shit and are both avid skiiers, so might as well invest some time now and it may pay off down the road!

I taught my gf to ski last year, and getting her more advanced this year. If you have patience and accept that they wont just be great the first day, it's really not so bad. Though they have to want to learn also and not just be forced to try it just because you ski.

She used some old skis I had last year, and bought her own Line Shadows this year. So far so good. She enjoys it and allows me to do my own thing.  Pretty win-win situation so far.

just take her somewhere superr cheap, if she hates it whatever, just leave. but if she loves it then step it up and take her somewhere better

I went wit a chick who said she was good, SO SLOW. We lost her after maybe an hour. Having a chick rolling with, during the after hours entertainment was definitely worth it, alot less gay.

If she has never skied/snowboarded before you are in for hell.  If she already rides you are probably in the clear. My GF of 3 years I actually met at the hill.

i did the same exact thing. i bought my chick a pair of chepear Roxy skis last year to learn on. this year ill get her some bigger twintips. and you are 100% right in that she has to want to learn. otherwise your fighting a losing battle.

the way I look at it is I keep my women and my true love seperate.  Cuz if a girl im dating decides to ski and wants help from me then I don't have any excuse to get away from her. 

Now a skiing gf is diff cuz they will probs already have other friends at the mountain so I wouldn't have to be with her the whole time and have to teach etc....

just my thoughts.....

My girlfriend and I put our first day of skiing in at Zermatt right by to the matterhorn.

She doesnt "shred" but she can keep up... Apres ski is a lot better if your not condescending. Talking down to the girl will just cause problems. I've done many trips and have figured out the right and wrong way to deal with coaching/boyfreinding.

first day i went riding with my girlfriend (well the actual first day was closing day at breck so I just did park laps with my friends and met her at the smoke shacks to blaze every once and a while) but anyways, first day riding with her all day was THE DAY before we were going to drive 30 hours across country. She just had to go and break her hand, 3 bones 4 places each, and get a bunch of metal put in there that night.

It ended up pushing our trip back a week or two but no big deal, and it doesn't seem to be holding her back this year so all is good!

I tried to take my ex skiing but to no prevail. Couldn't even get her to consider it. Luckily the girl I'm with now loves the mountain as much as I do and is better at boarding then almost all my friends haha :D

Don't do it man. If you like having fun while skiing and you like getting laid, don't bring your girl skiing because she will not only ruin your day but also won't give you the poon afterwards.

I've seen it happen so much. It normally ends with the girl throwing a shit fit and moping in the lodge.

She's not really interested in skiing either. It's pretty much her first time just to spend time with me, not so she can get better.

I will not teach anyone to ski, because I'm terrible at explaining what I'm doing in noob terms. If you're not an instructor, I wouldn't even try.  Teaching is harder than it looks and it will probably end badly.
