First Time Photography

So, this is my first ever round of photography taken, and I'm pretty stoked on a few pictures. I'm taking photography 1 at high school, and I'm doing digital photos before Christmas break, and black and white film after break. So, this is one of my digital photos I took today!

I did it for the element of balance.

So, if you guys can give me some critique or whatever, I'd be happy. Maybe I'll end up uploading a few more...

yeah, kinda. half of the class is doing film first, and my table happened to be chosen to do digital first.

but, we've learned how to develop and do everything already.

like, i can take film out of a camera in those bag thingees, but it onto a reel etc,

and i can develop, stop, fix, wash, and make prints and stuff

Ya I say enjoy your time in the dark room because they are hard to come by after high school. But film is a very good thing to learn. It will make your digital that much better. Once you learn composition and begin to look at what you shoot more closely so you don't have to edit as much you'll be glad you took a film class. Keep at it for sure.

what?

my highschool didnt have a working darkroom, but the two public colleges Ive been to did have one.. Though both seemed to be on the chopping block.

the darkroom at my school is so un-legit, we have enlargers and chemicals and stuff, but its no place to create good prints. so if your going to make legit prints figure out the correct way to develop, not the cheap easy way.

Every day i see great pictures ruined because there are only a few kids that like and care about the course and about 100 that just need a credit. its bad business.

I like your balance, but the top right looks out of it, i would suggest some cropping and the reflection does not seem complete.
