Southern Wisconsin hills?

Just moved to the sun prairie/madison area and I'm wondering what the deal is with all the ski areas around here...ie best park? high speed lifts? rails? jumps? pipes? pass $$$? any info would be great...also what are the best shop(s) in the area?

well im not from southern wiscompton but if ur from madison ski tyrol basin because i hear its sick. also if that gets boring cascade is tight but i hear they got rid of their larger jumps which really blows.

yea tyrol is your best option for park, and cascade used to be real sick until they moved there park, the jump line they had towards the end of the year was killer

Cascade Mountain is going to be the closest to you. But the best (in my opinion) is going to be Tyrol Basin. The drive is going to be a bit for you, since it's 20 miles on the other side of Madison, but a lot of people here ski there and the park is pretty nice.

I'm actually living out in waterloo, kinda halfway between madison and millwaukee, so if there is anything further east that would work too....but from what ive heard cascade is the way to go

yeah dude. come to cascade. park is decent, rails are sick, really lacking in the jump category however. it would def be closer to you.

Chestnut is a good option if you are willing to make the drive...something different for later in the season...especially when the slopestyle course is setup on blackhaw in late february

cascade was the greatest park back a few years til it was moved.

now cascades only good for rails.

tyrol is your best bet depending on how far it is

if ur in madison tyrol is about  a 15 mile drive so id go there its really good, good park, not the biggest hill but also cheap passes before season

I would say Cascade is going to be the closest for you. Our park is smaller than it was a few years ago but it's still pretty legit. We have a rail yard with 3 or so lines of rails and then the North park which will be set up with 3 shelves... 2 jumps and 1 rail on the first two shelves and then at least one jump if not 2 on the 3rd shelf... should be a much more organized setup than last year. Tyrol is sick too if you're willing to make the extra drive. I work on the park crew at cascade so feel free to PM me with any questions and I would be happy to answer them. for insurance reasons, they had to move the park to a differnt, flatter part of the hill. im pretty sure on this one. but somebody correct me if i'm wrong.

That's part of it... the biggest thing was that we lost our head groomer. Without a Tom Price you can't have a super park. It also took up a lot of space. I'm glad you guys like the railyard... i've got some good ideas to make the northpark much better this year though and I think it will turn out sick. All the parks should be 100% up and running fairly soon. The northpark is closed for snowmaking and there are like 5 rails in the railyard for now. Game on!

We have a lot of rails.... last year we had something like 15 rails in the railyard... It was a little too hectic in there last year so we're going to space the rails out a little bit and try to have it more organized in there. The northpark will feature some of our larger rails such as the big flat down and the tall box top. Should turn out pretty sick. I'm really excited to see what we can put together this year.
