Candide has a tendency to stay in the background a lot of the time I think, then come out and do some of the gnarliest things ever. From the d-spin 7 over Chad's back in 2000 (?), to the huge cork 5 over the hip in Superpark 4, to the 810 to rail in 2005, and more.
(But pipe skiers, some at least, do go as big, or bigger today though. The highest air Candide had on that run was 17ft I think, while Dumont went 20ft out on that huge 9 in the X-games, this year or last.)
That video is amazing! got me pumped to get out there again! cant believe i havent seen that! he absolutley kills those lines and hits! 4:12 is soooo sick! such a change in style from what i remember from him....
the man is an absolute legend of our sport, total shame that many kids out there dont/wont know about him, this thread should be a lesson to everyone out there just how much guys like this killed and progressed the scene in the early days and are the main reason its the way it is now...
some of his earlier segments were amazing, left me speachless... One of the guys who first got me stoaked on park skiing and away from the big mountain. Everyone should see this from one of the ski movies (high society maybe?):
I'm looking at age 35 come january... I use to ski in a one pice suit with a nice belt and yellow knees before you were born and you need to know history - Lurent speeks the trouth.
