Same, but I'm in Canada, for which they use a different company, might be that
Also I think scott or rowen said they were gonna ship the remaining J-mo's monday
Im buying 181 jmos, But Im heavy for a skier. Im 6'5" 230 pounds. Are you guys still giving an option for a stiff version of the jmo? And is there still a delay now or do you guys have like a back stock of them.
For everyone about shipping: A huge amount of skis are going out Monday and Tuesday, Scott has been pressing like a maniac. If you get a shipping confirmation, its because I'm pre-printing out the labels for the boxes in my free time between working on skis, just saving us a few moments here and there. All Blue Steele rockers and J-mo's will be out into the world early next week.
Thought i'd throw a quick write up of the Wrens after spending a lot of time on them this week...
Stats:
Age: 21
Weight: 170lbs
Height: 6’
Conditions: Everything from hardpack to 8' of pow @ Alpine.
I’ve been skiing my Wrenegades mounted with FKS 155’s for the past week at Alpine Meadows and it has quickly become one of my favourite skis of all time. Right out of the box I was super impressed. Construction and finish is amazing and they have a solid feel to them. They’re also pretty light for a ski of its size and construction.
As soon as i clicked into these i knew they were gonna like going straight and fast, and they didn't disappoint. I was a little intimidated at first as these are the first charging, stiff, long ski i've owned. Super glad i got the 191, there is no other size for this ski(that you should be buying). What i really liked is the fact that when going slowly they are lively and have a ton of pop. Once you get to high speeds its stable and damp. It's something i have never felt in skis before, and its awesome.
Groomers: These were a bit straighter than most of the skis I typically ride so I was a bit hesitant at first about how these would go down on groomers, it’s not really what I bought them for so whatever. Anyway I super impressed with how they performed on groomed terrain. They can really rail. I’m not used to skiing a ski this wide on groomers so initially I was a bit of a learning curve but after a few runs I could rip the shit out of the groomed runs. These are also a lot stiffer than most of the skis I have ridden so they were super solid at high speeds.
Verdict: they’re sick on groomers
Bumps: Usually on a long stiff ski 113mm underfoot I would try and avoid bumps at all costs. The Wrens have a ton on snap and pop to them and I found it super easy to manoeuvre around and ski in the bumps. It literally shocked me. As long as you’re strong the bumps are a non-issue on these skis. They are also stiff enough that you can just plough through the bumps given that they are not super big.
Verdict: Not the ideal ski in the bumps but I’ve found them perfectly manageable on this type of terrain. I prefer them here compared to my buddys 179 Obsethed.
Pow: Destroy it. The tip rocker is awesome and always seems to be on top and unlike most rocker skis i have experienced no tip flap. On days with a foot or more I’d be on 189 Hellbents, but for the amount of pow I’ve skied they’ve been sick. What they are really good for is cut up pow the day of two after the storm. I find on Hellbents I get bounced around a bit, on the Wrens I just blow right through it. They are the best ski I have ever ridden for cut up or variable snow.
Crud: Ultimate crud buster. Fast or slow. Enough said.
Durability: I've been pretty stoked on durability too. Got some tiny minor chips but nothing major. I haven't skied them enough to say, but looking at the construction, i'm gonna say its a non issue.
Conclusion: The Wrenegades are truly an everyday ski. I am yet to find something, which I don't like to ski on them. They really don’t feel like they are 113mm underfoot. Stiff enough for charging, enough shape to carve, light and poppy enough to throw around, fat enough to ski pow and the perfect amount of rocker. Exactly what i was looking for.
I think we have around 15 pairs of jeronimos going out today, if you aren't in that group, you should be set tomorrow.
A few people have asked if there will be any more available - I always make some extras to ensure I have covered all the orders in case something goes wrong with some pairs, but if everything goes through, there should be just a few pairs of jeronimos available probably by early next week. If you want one, shoot me an email and I will hold a place in line for you.
181cm caylors, last few pairs of cease and desist, and then 191cm caylors should finish the week. We will be super close to done then with I think less than 35 pairs of presale skis left. We are looping back around, though, so stuff will continue to become available here. We are sort of planning our next month out right now, so once I know realistically what we can make and when, I will post it up.
technicaly the JBS are my dad's, so i have to ask him everytime i wanna use them. so i bought wrens as my daily driver so I wouldnt need to ask my dad(yes i spent that much money because im to fucking lazy to ask my dad to use skis)
impression time!
181 rockered blue steeles:
wow is all I can say. these are one the the lightest, and hands down the most poppy(from hand flexing) park skis i have ever held. the graphic is killer, and girl friendly(when i pulled them out of the box my sister kailey grabbed them and locked her self in her room with them, she wants a pair)
191 wrens:
damn, these things are like GS skis on steroids. stiff flex all the way through makes them feel very stable. good side cut for large GS/SG turns, and the large tip and rocker to let them blast through crud? I see why these are called rocket ships.
the O'Connell ON3P quiver: 181 BSs, 186 proto JBS, 191 Wrens, 191 C&D. Scott you are a ski making god
Just got my jeronimos!!! SO fucking sexy. they feel so sturdily built and the 50/50 flex option feels perfect for someone being 150lb. a little softer than i expected but still stiff enough to charge but if taken in the park buttering shouldn't be an issue at all. My first impression was damn. The graphic is so sick in person and the bases are just as sexy. side walls are solid. can't wait to mount them up. pics be up soon.
this is absurd. my buddy ordered 2 pairs before the season had even started and at the moment only has 1 pair which he got today (February and more than halfway through the season). Is this how ON3P is operating and expecting to have returning customers?
yeah i'll admit the wait was frustrating but now that i got my skis and see how perfectly constructed they are i'm glad i held out on them, i'll be returning next year with a pair of 191 C&D or Caylors. Not like Washington has been getting pounded with snow so really it didn't bother me to much.
Unfortunately this tends to happen to smaller companies in the ski industry. Some of it is their fault, and some is completely out of their hands.
Keep in mind that other smaller companies such as saga, and praxis and pm gear have experienced similar difficulties in their first years. There were a couple years where 9thward never even shipped their skis.
The ski industry already deals in small volumes compared to other production industries. Then you take the small companies from a small industry and you are dealing with volumes that almost seem microscopic in comparison. What this means for the companies is that when they order their materials, they tend to get the shaft from the distributors. When your orders are just a fraction of that of other customers it gives the likes of ON3P and saga very limited pulling power. The result is that they will sometimes get the beat around from their suppliers, waiting and waiting for materials that were supposed to show up months ago.
Take into consideration that ON3P built their factory from the ground up and do pretty much all the work in house (not to mention put the time and effort into getting one of the nicest factory finishes on the skis) and it is easy to see how they ended up beyond schedule.
I know for a fact that Scott wishes he could have gotten all the skis out in time, not just for the sake of the company, but also just because that is how he is. Scott really wants things to go right. This also means that he won't let a ski leave the factory unless it is perfect. It may be true that ON3P bit off a bit more then they could chew. Things defiantly took longer then they thought it would, however have confidence that all customers will get their skis and that they will be some of the finest skis available.
The two guys at ON3P (Rowen and Scott) are both busting their balls to get everything done, working well over 100 hour work weeks to get everything out.
Very well put. I would have waited as long as it took to get my skis. I have NEVER had a ski that fit my demands for performance and durability as well as these. They are beyond well put together, they are downright perfect.
I am so pleased with them that I am currently counting up my sales and tax returns to see if I can afford to replace my park skis a little early. Scott and the ON3P crew are bending over backwards to fix the delays. I couldn't ask for more (like literally, they can't go any faster).
Saga took tropical vacations when they fell behind. THAT would piss me off.
i've had just three days on my jeronimos but i can already tell how amazing they are. i have them mounted 1cm forward of recommended. btw i am 6'1, 180.
living in ontario i have to say that these skis are made to slay the east coast. they rail turns like a gs ski and i have never been so confident ripping fast 180's as i am on these skis. i opted for the 50/50 flex and i think that was a good call. i find them fairly stiff so im not sure how much stiffer the regular flex option would be.
skiing icy groomers was great. every turn the skis hooked up, giving me complete and utter confidence at any speed. the 24m turning radius is alittle large at slow speeds but as soon as you pick up the pace these babies respond quickly and give no surprises. the little amount of taper and rocker gives confidence doing high speed butters. they really grip the hard pack.
one of the days we got some fresh snow allowing me to go into the trees and ski some ontario glades. the snow was crusted in some places but overall pretty soft. in the little amount of fresh snow we had the tips wanted to stay above the snow. dropping 10-20 foot cliffs into crusty snow, the landings were stable and forgiving. when the crust was bad, the skis wouldn't turn very well until you gained some speed but that is expected. the early taper front and back made slashing easy and the skis wouldn't hook up when you threw them sideways until you engaged them.
i kept the skis off of rails as i wanted to keep them nice but the skis were extremely stable in the air and landing switch. because of the fresh snow the park was slow and clumpy but these guys were fast and stable blowing right through the loose snow.
chopped up snow is where these bad boys excel. they are really poppy and fun allowing you to pop off little clumps. the wider platform allowed me to carve in the softer snow without booting out yet still held an edge beautifully on ice between clumps. throwing big 180s off of the clumps were easy and they gave me confidence ripping switch in the chopped up snow.
all in all these skis are awesome and preform exactly as i wanted them to. i wanted something that could do it all. be fun and playfull as well as stable and able to charge. being an ex racer i wanted something i could really ski on, but as ontario is pretty lame i wanted to be able to play around and ski the park without having to switch skis. these allow me to do it all on one ski.
my one concern is the durability of the top sheet. just from spinning of jumps and butters the top sheets are looking a little frayed on the sides. its nothing to worry about i just don't like hurting these skis as they are my babies. ripping them in the park day in day out they could get pretty beat up pretty quickly.
it sucked waiting for these guys for almost 6 months but the wait was well worth it. i have nothing bad to say about these skis. i am in love. just want to say thanks to the ON3P guys for creating such an amazing product. these skis are perfect. im gunna post some pictures in a little bit.
