What PVC for standard rail

i am planning on building a rail from the instructions in the build a rail sticky and i cant decide if i want to have 2-2in pvc pipes 1-4in pipe and cut it open and set it on top or 4-1in pipes. what has worked the best for people in the past.

2 -2inch fits perfect on a flat 2x4 too

i would recomend ABS pipe, it isnt as easy to break, im using 2 1 and a half inchers on a 2 by 4

to save money use 1 2" pipe and cut it in half. then screw it in on the sides or in the middle of the rail
