Boot fitting question: specific inquiry

So I have been looking at dalbello krypton kingstons. My question is of size. I'm just looking for input; what people think.

So here is the deal. I have been on salomon 1080 foils (green ones) for like 5 years or so now. I got them in 26.5. I usually wear a 10-10.5 shoe. My old race boots were 27.5s. These [sallys] hurt at first, but once I packed them out they were pretty awesome, though always cramped, I always felt like I had really good control of them. But upon pulling out the liner I noticed my foot was breaking through in the front Click for larger image

Now I'm not too worried about this in terms of function, I could never tell when skiing that there was a hole in the toe; therefore, I never cared.

So I'm thinking about what size to get of the kryptons. the 27.5's have a liner that seems to fit very nicely. my toe is up against the front, though when I shell fit and put my toes forward there is like an inch between my heal and the plastic. When talking to my friend who fits boots he said that for me that was probably a little too much (I'm not pro, but I have a racing background and am aggressive) .


I just wanted to know what those of you thought, those that know what they are talking about.

Wear a 26.5 salomon Shogun (best boot ever for my foot), have had Dalbello Rampages 26.5, Salomon foil 26.5 and Rossignol Bandit 12 26.5. Got/get slight toe bang every now and again. I wear a 10.5/11 skate shoe.

You can get the big toe punched anyway. Id go 26.5. Besides 5 years is a long time to wear a liner. I expect around 100, maybe 150 days out of a liner.

All boot companies fit a little differently, for example, I wore a 27.5 Dalbello, but I have 26.5 Full Tilts. My suggestion is to go try them on - and try out a bunch of different sizes (ranging from around 26-28) cause then you'll know which fits you best. Of course the best thing to do would be to go to a professional boot fitter, but I realize not everyone has one near them.

And, if you're planning on buying these online...DON'T. Or at least go somewhere to try them on first then buy them online if they're cheaper.

Because ski boots use 2:1 lasting (one shell for two sizes, so it's the same shell for a 27.0 and 27.5), if you have about a one inch space from the back of your heel to shell you are typically in the green zone.  Some like it snugger, some like it a smidge bigger.  But it depends on how your specific foot jives with the contours of the shell of the boot.  So, over the interweb, it sounds like you should be ok in that shell.

Typically, when you try on the next shell down you'll get about a half inch space and that will produce a rather snug, rather cold fit.  Do some people prefer this kind of fit, sure.  Definitely depends on what you are used to.  Ex-racers who jam their feet into shells that are almost the exact size of their feet would think a half inch shell fit was generous.  If you're used to wearing your boot like a skate shoe, a half inch fit will feel like death.  So most boot-fitters on here would probably agree with me that a one inch fit will yield a pretty standard, comfortably snug fitting ski boot.  And make sure to get a good footbed, it will make everything that much better.

No, don't size up, stay at 26.5.  Get some footbeds that work for you, they will stop pretty much all toe bang you may get in a 26.5 w/o footbeds, and the arch they give you puts your toes a few mm further back.  Sizing up from a 26.0 that is tight but not overly tight to a 27.0 will be too much(1cm, bigg difference).
