Woodward at Copper vs. Windells

ok i would like people or pros that have been to both to give me some feed back. i went to windells this summer and absolutly loved it. But my friends showed me woodward at copper and they wanna try it so im deciding for next summer. I The camp itself looks better with all the foam pits and indoor skateparks and artificial jump to foam. But its really about the skiing. so does anyone know if woodwards terrain park bigger/smaller? Is there more/less people? Housing? pretty much a generalization of each and your verdict please

If you go to woodward at copper youll be skiing on turf. While if you go to windells youll be on snow. Although woodwards has sick tramps, windells wins.

Windells definitely has a better park for skiing/snowboarding with more features. Apparently the Prez of Copper was super hyped on how last year went and wants to make things much bigger for this year which is great news.

Windells wrecks that shit. Why practice in foam when you have a glacier. Plus windells has some good shit to skate so woodward doesnt have alot to offer.

Well last year, Copper had enough snow so that Woodward could set up a park. But windells' park is far bigger. If I remember right, copper had a small jump and a couple rails. If it's for the skiing, go to Windells for sure.

Snowflex is softer than real snow so if you plan on slamming epically hard, try woodward. If you dont plan on slamming epically hard, you probably shouldnt be skiing because thats half of what we do

haha uhh unless you plan on "slamming epically hard" on the two indoor rails woodward has to offer or on the inrun of the foam pit jump, the softness of the snowflex doesn't matter.

Seriously though, Woodward's indoor setup's pretty fun. Foam pit is hot and difficult to get out of but the tramp setup's reall fun for sure. Don't know anything about the summer on snow setup but I do know that Windells' setup last summer was banger pretty much until the end of camp.

Snowflex doesn't feel that soft.

The tramps at woodward are amazing. And the snowflex really helps you tune up your tricks. Give woodward a shot

Yo ive been to both woodward has the sickest tramps and foam pit and being able to ski into the foam is sick but windells has a bag jump now so ya your choice... but windells has a better skate park and park i kinda like the summer camp vibe too over woodward. no hate on woodward but i would go with windells if i had to choose

windells is probly better but im pretty sure woodward is alot cheaper and its probly closer to where u live so id go with copper

been to bolth. windels is deffffinatly better, but woodward is alot cheeper and is still pretty damn fun.

if you fall on the snowflex it rips your skin off. ive gone through 2 pairs of shorts there from attempting rails tricks.... its pretty much like hard velcro... anyways, i would say windells wins by alot because u can actually try things on snow, the foam pit is a big confidence booster but once you try things on snow its alot different

it depends on how much u want to pay, if u want to spend a little more money that woodward go to windells went there session 5 this past summer greatest time of my life!

fall on snowflex, say goodbye to skin
and its just a small layer over wooden panels, which is much harder then snow

the FOAM PIT at woodward is softer, but theres really only so much you can do in that

and the rail and the box at woodward blow

I work for Woodward at Copper and I can tell you that we do have a summer on snow terrain park during camp with a 30' jump and several rails and boxes. We are looking to double the amount of features this upcoming summer. Windell's will have a bigger terrain park since it is a glacier, but at Woodward at Copper you can learn a trick into a foam pit and then take on snow that same week.

In addition to the bowl, mini-ramps, and mini street area we take campers on skatepark tours around Colorado. There are 6 skateparks within 15-30 minutes from Copper.

You should have fun either way, but I hope to see you at Woodward!

If its for the skiing DEFINITELY go to Windells. After being at Hood for 2 weeks and seeing the windells park in person plus the amount of work their diggers do to maintain it, I can safely say you will have no regrets going to Windells. PLUS they have their own little village type thing outside of Government camp with a private skate park and all sorts of other badass stuff. And the infamous Windells jump is a thing of beauty, unless you ski somewhere amazing its a rare opportunity to hit a feature that sick.

Windells fo sho. Plus they have an airbag!

No, last summer Copper had snow on the mountain with a jump and some jibs for people to play around on.  Woodward is fantastic, although I've never been during the summer.  I've also never been to Windells, but as far as on snow skiing goes Windells seems pretty on point.  Looked amazing this past summer.  I am pretty sure that they have tramps into pits there too, unless I'm mistaken.  Guess it just depends where you live and how much you want to spend.  Even if your friends go somewhere else you always meet super chill kids at camp and have fun no matter what.

Last summer woodward had rails and real jumps on the mountain with real snow. and this year they plan to do the same and add a lot more features. its still can't compare to windells though. since you live on the ec i would say windells, you don't want to pay a ton and ride a little park.

for woodward being prolly the most profitable action sports camp in the world they certainly seem like the biggest ripoff at copper. I mean come on, $10 to skate for an hour and 80+ bucks just to be "introduced" to tramps and foampit jump. Ive been to liberty snowflex in VA and the Jibyard in UT and both are wayyy better buys without i"intro" bullshit. The punch pass system is really wack at copper you should be able to ride all day under a session. Not and hour and a half . I don't doubt that it is a sick facility but they really seem to scam it's target buyers most of which cannot afford 200 bucks for 5 hours of use.

true for the summer, but just checked out woodward when i was at copper and during the winter they are both the same. i'd say for winter woodward may be better actually because it has way more tramps and the indoor drop-in.

shitt dude this is a hard decisionn, i mean im not the greatest skier hands down. i wanna learn corks and shit this winter/summer so i am leaning towards woodward but its gotta be worth it

Leeyum...it would appear that you have been misinformed and maybe haven't seen the facility in person. I encourage you to come check it out if you can. To skate the Barn it is only $10/day which is good from 2pm-8pm daily that equates to 6 hours of skating not 1.

The One Hit Wonder 1 hour and 45 minutet intro session is actually $69 (including tax) and you get to use the tramps and Snowflex jump to foam pit during the session. Drop In sessions are only $29 (including tax) and you can buy a 10 Drop In session puch pass for $219 or a 5 Drop In session punch pass for $119 (not $200). Trust me after you session the jump for 1 hour and 45 minutes you will probably be tired.

In comparison to the BOB we have 6 olympic grade fly bed tramps instead of 1 (3 of which go into a foam pit, 2 of which allow you to transfer between trampolines). Check out the video gallery to see what we have

Jossi Wells, Colby West, Bobby Brown, and Mike Riddle amongst a bunch of other pro skiers actually do train in the Barn and it has helped them with their double corks and 1080s.

Not to hijack your thread (well kinda)...but if "its all about the skiing" then why are you going someplace where it isnt even winter?

SASS!! Argentina! Just as cheap as Windell's and ITS WINTER! There is a reason that Pep, Pollard, Benchetler, Michelle Parker, and Garrett all come to ride with us!

ive been to both. windells is by far more legit for skiing. the park is soo good there. but the indoor facility at woodward is really good too if you wanna do day sesh's there.

i'm not a hundred percent sure, but im gonna say he's going cause he wants to learn park, and isn't SASS all about the back country? SASS does sound like a ridiculous amount of fun (prob more than Mt. Hood) but I live in the midwest and if I was choosing, I'd pick Windells so I learn stuff that I could take back to my actual hill.

Windells has a larger park to actually ski in but if you wanted to learn stuff without the fear of landing on your head or whatever the foam pits at Woodward are pretty fun and easy to lean on, but the Snowflex jumps aren't that big which makes it difficult to try bigger tricks.

We do alot of backcountry stuff. But, we do have a private park that Josh Lempert from Snowgrind technologies builds for us. We fly him down, and he stays with us for the whole time we are there, and builds and changes the park according to what the riders want. Its pretty sick. And, we have Garrett Russell as our head coach. His park riding is dialed, and he loves helping others dial it in as well.

We arent huge like other camps. We cap it at about 60 people a session. So, we are super good at setting goals, and helping everyone who comes down to achieve those goals.

So yea. The other camps still rule, but we are on a totally different level.

Not true. Snowflex is extremely rough and will rip your ass cheek off through basketball shorts.


Spending a great deal of time at both, and being very fond of both... here's my input:

Woodward is very new and we're still expanding. We plan on moving our park to the top of the mountain so we can have more features and hopefully a halfpipe... but we still had a very cool park this summer. Nothing compared to Windells outdoor park, though. On the other hand, we have an airbag you can land on and ride away from, and the barn, which Windells can not compete with. At Woodward we are more about progression. Our couches are very, very trained and will make sure you learn what you want to learn. While the coaches at Windells are also awesome, I feel like they are more laid back and it's more about just jibbing. At Windells you're kind of stuck on the small campus, while at Woodward you can wander the entire Copper village, which includes mini golf, go carting, rock climbing, bumper boating, etc. Woodward's skate features aren't as good as Windells because we're still building... but we do skate trips around the state of Denver to all the best skate parks. We are also looking into including zip lining ect.

Each is amazing in their own way, and I guarantee you'll have a blast at either. If you really want to learn some tricks that you're afraid to try, Woodward might be for you. While if you just want to ride and jib, Windells might be better.

windells has more snow, bigger park, more coaches, but its more expensive.
woodward has turf, and a small park, but is cheaper.
also, where do you live? flying can pretty double your prices.
