My History Final`

I am in history 112 Voyages in world history (or something very similar to that)
Our final is a take home final and im asking for your guys help.

the assignment is.....

How has the movement of humans and ideas shaped history?

List and rank the 6 most significant movements
suggested length 3 pages

Select and of the migrations chronicled in our course textbook. Rank them in order of importance and justify your rankings.

I have chosen for my 6 movements

1.  Ferdinand Magellan- circumnavigating the globe
2. Christopher Columbus-exploring across the pacific to the Americas
3. Lewis and Clark-pioneering the US
4. Charles Darwin- went on a journey
5. Leif Erikson-discovering North America
6. James cook-discovery of cook islands, sailing down by Australia 





Now, I know somewhat about these but i will be honest as its easy to come to the conclusion I didnt do any reading in this class and know almost no history from the book.

can you guys give me some good information to use for evidence as why those are important voyages?

any help at all would be amazing, each voyage needs to have about a half page describing why it is significant.

haha watch out if ns helps you you might get a zero. i just finished my history final and it was completly different from that. id help you if i knew anything about any of that stuff but i dont haha but good luck.

you obviously didn't read, Columbus sailed across the Atlantic, not the Pacific, LOL! He had the completely ridiculous idea that sailing across the Atlantic to reach India and the Spice Islands in the Phillippines and around the Indian Ocean would take a lot less time than Sailing around the southern tip of Africa.

# 3 Lewis and Clark

This one you should be able to find a hell-of-alot- of information on.

I live in Great Falls, Montana, named after a falls called "the great falls" located about 15 minutes outside of town. Lewis and clark discovered these falls when they were canoeing up the missouri river. the portage took them 3 months to make around the falls (or something like that). the night before the the portage they had a party and drank all the rest of the alcohol. haha

number one, I would include the conquests of the mongols and the conquests of Alexander the Great as the top two on your list. Both of these  effectively connected the eastern world with the western world and facilitated a massive flow of ideas and technology that without which the world would be completely different today.

i dont know were you want to rank chrstopher columbus but to support that you could say that sailing to america allowed most of europe to me aware of the americas and it drastically changed the way non-europeans and europeans lived by changing/destroying their culture.

here some examples i know of how non-european culture was changed because of the discovery of america:

europeans were now setting up trade routes for the demand of beaver furrs in the late 1600s in central north amaerica. instead of doing indian stuff all the native americans were now just trapping beavers and making tons of money.

with the discovery of silver in south america the spanish had thaught that their wildest dreams had come true. indians worked in the mines for awile until they realized how dangerous the work was. with no one to work the spanish were now forcing the indians to do the work when they institued something called the mita. because this area was at such high elevation no one lived there until the spanish came. the city of petosi became an enormous prosperous city overnight because of the mines. it grew to 120.000 people by 1570 and 150,000 by 1639. thats were the phrase "as rich as petosi" come from wich i have actually never heard in my life.

what about the movement of the idea of the pringtin press. or religion(pilgrims, protestantism, indian removal, you could get all 6 just from the movement of religious ideas. good paper topic that'd be fun
