That 5th shot is rather magical. I need to get my scanner working so i can put my prints up.

yeah the rail shots aren't really doing much for me.

Last two are powerful.

I pretty much gave up on digital recently. Film is an expensive habit though.

I don't know if you're processing these yourself, but if you are, i would suggest a much higher filter on the rail shots. It's not that they aren't technically good, they just need some attention.

They lack power because of the lack of contrast.

The lack of contrast isn't the problem in my opinion on the rail shots, it's the composition. So, you captured the action, quite possibly applied the rule of third to the first, tired for a center, symmetric shot in the second and third. That's kinda it, don't mean to sound mean, but that's it. It's not all about capturing the action, you need to make the surroundings work with the subject. I'd say that's hard to do with rails because it's such an unnatural object in the middle of the wilderness.

The jump shots I like, the first more than the second. As common as this angle is on jumps, it's a good shot. I think a pan to the right may have helped, to show some more of the jump.

Try a red filter, a polarizer or both at the same time. The 2 together may be a little much, but a red filter will turn the sky dark gray and make the cloud pop. It will also darken trees (green), which are only dark now because the reflect much less light than other stuff. You would also open up the aperture like 2 stops so some dof could blur the sky a little. A polarizer+ a 2 stop red filter makes the sky black, I tried once. Overall, either will ad contrast before a computer is involved.

What film?

yes thank you for the advice it is much needed. these were form my first 2 rolls ever taken in snow so it was hard working with them. the contrast just disappears! i need to get filters for my camera.

I shot these with Kodak Gold B&W 400 speed i believe.

I'm going to scan in another print of the good jump shot i made today. and yes the rail shots i need to work with more. the trees in the background just wash out the skier and it doesn't pop em out.

I think you mean bw400cn?

the film i used was devoloped with the c-41processing chemicals it is developed with color chemicals
