Is laughter involuntary?

so im in french class.
and my teacher hands out pictures of some old french lady.
now my friend awsomo decides to draw a uni-brow and some other shit on it.
at the time i didn't know he did that.
so my other friend looks at it and starts laughing so hard that hes like drooling everywhere and his face is really red.
then from across the room someone says "oh are you thinking about your dad?"
and then me and like a couple other people also start laughing.
then the teacher only sends me and the drooling kid out, and said you can easily control yourself from laughing.
but isnt laughter involuntary?

next time your teacher says that just start tickling them and see if they laugh.  then call them out when they do.

ya ive been asked to leave to go calm down for laughing fits in class the most memorable one was in grade 5 and this big goofy kid in r class had this gel pen that have the big holed ink tube i looked over and he was chewing on it and after a bit i just see the gold shoot up the pen and he got the mst dishusted look on his face and he opeed his mouth and gold ink was coming out an i just couldnt stop laughing and when i think about it i just had like 3 uncontrable chuckles writing this

theres this one girl in my ap physics that almost every other day will break out into an uncontrollable laugh that ends up taking like 5 mins

my class was watching the movie Gandhi and at the beginning when he got shot, and said "Oh God" "Oh No" I burst out laughing.  teacher paused the movie and continued to chew me out on how it is not funny. 
it was the acting that made me laugh not him being killed

I agree with that, I tend to have laughing fits at work and it just gets worse and worse as the day goes on.

most of my classes its like, how could you not find it funny?
we just get read the most sexual books, and people just throw out comments to make it worse.

for example.
our english teacher read us a poem about a chick logging.
and talked about like wood coming from all directions.

and then everyone was laughing and he only sent out 1 person.

its a subconscious act...so ur brain is programmed to be able to do it and you CAN do it voluntarily, but in times that you actually find something funny its involuntary

no, i think you can control laughter. Im one of those ppl that if they want to can just stop laughing, but if you say that you "can't" stop laughing then on some level you dont' want to.
