My shop says Line recommends Markers for best performance...this true or BS?

Just got some Line prophet 100's in 179 and I am tryin to figure out the binding situation.  I weigh 190 and 6ft tall and hopefully be using these up in VT in the trees this winter.

The local shop is saying the Line recommends going with the Griffon or Jester for max. potential with the ski's design, and that all the Line sponsored skiers are using the Jesters.  Could there be something about the Jester's design that actually works better on the Line's than say Rossi FKS 140s? 

I was going to go with the Griffons but hear that they are all plastic, and another shop says I should go with the Rossi Freeski2 120's since they are $229 and Ti.  I like the knee-saving design, but again it is hard to sift through all the marketing BS.

thoughts?

well new marker model's toe pieces look alot like the old line reactor bindings so what you heard might be somewhat true?... i've heard alot that jesters are ideal for wider underfoot skis like your prophets (which are siiiick by the way)

Marker is closely associated with line skis, and ussualy the shop will stock according to what brands they have in so ussualy you will see Line and K2 together among with other brands. I hope that makes sense. It's bassically marketing any other binding will do the same job on a pair of line skis.

That sounds like marketing hype to me, although I am a huge fan of the Jesters. At your weight, I wouldn't recommend the Griffons - too much plastic.

Either of those bindings will work well on the Prophet 100, but I think the Marker is a better match.  Mostly because of it's wider contact points (same mounting points I think) on the ski, horizontal spring placement (versus longitudinal like Rossi, Look, Salomon), and a piston over each toe wing all make for a laterally stiffer binding which in turn makes wider skis ski quicker edge to edge.  I use a Duke on my Prophet 100 and it's awesome.  I've got Jesters on my other skis too.  If you go the Rossi route, spring for the FKS 140 over the Freeski2.

I'm gonna say Bs but marker bindings are sick but any other binding will perform on the line skis the way markers perform on any other skis.

thanks for the replies.  yeah i am pumped about the new skis I was torn over the 90's and 100's but figured i might as well go fatter.

Man I guess I can't go wrong over the jesters or FKS's then from all the threads I've read, but I can't help but think twice over all this stuff I hear about the rossi's being safer for your knees...

considering line is owned by k2 and marker is owned by k2 i would suspect if you buy line skis they would want you to be marker bindings with them.... its just a marketing ploy

actually this is a common mis consception - they are all (Line, Full Tilt, K2, and Marker) owned by 1 parent company - not K2, the parent company of them all is Jarden Corp.

However, it is still most likely just a marketing ploy, but Marker Bindings are very enjoyable (well, at least the Royal series).

The Jarden Corporation owns K2, which purchased those brands.  Everything from Mr Coffee to Line Skis.

The royal series Markers are definately legit. But if you'd rather go with another binding I don't think you'll be too disappointed with a FKS, or STH binder on a line (I have STH14's on last years EPs and really like the combo)

As for propet 90 vs 100, go with the 100 there is no reason not to.
