Not really... I think it depends more on the style of filmmaking he is interested in. 

All of these items are tools for stabilizing the image for dynamic cinematography.  If he's making ski movies, I think the fisheye may be the most useful tool, whether or not people like the look of fisheyes is another issue altogether...  For narrative films, I think a glidecam, even if it's a homemade one, is essential.  I just finished shooting a feature, and we ended up using the glidecam for a huge chunk of the film.  Waaay more than we used a dolly.  That all comes down to your own style though...

What I'd suggest, is build a dolly yourself for cheap.  For skiing cinematography, unless you're really serious about hauling gear around, I think a fisheye is more practical than a glidecam.  Make yourself a glidecam out of odds and ends from the hardware store (just search DIY steadicam on youtube) for a few dollars, and decide from there if you want to invest in something like a glidecam 2000.  As far as fisheyes go, I prefer the look of wide angle lenses to fisheyes, but that's all preference.  Do as you wish on that.
