720p vs 1080p which is better for video games

depends on your gaming machine and there wont be a noticeable difference between the 2

its only a resolution change

it depends on the size of your HDTV.. if you have like a 32" then having the game on 1080p is gonna make the hud crazy small.. but if you have it on 720p on a 50" its gonna make the Hud too big and its gonna be blurry.

well still a lot of game are made in 720p so it doesnt change jack in these case... for acl a 120hrz tv is propably more important than anything else. For a plasma, for a 42in or smaller, it doesnt change much

every time ive played with HDMI on a tv there is some serious tv lag. I play on a monitor now.

It can really depend. TV size, what kind of cables you are using, LCD vs plasma. One huge thing is how close you sit to the TV. The farther you sit from the TV, the easier it is to see the differences between 720 and 1080.

Playing some games in 1080P on some TVs can distort the image quite a bit. Most video games are 720P. My TV automatically changes itself, so on start up, my PS3's running 1080P, but when 90% of my games start, it switches to 720P. If I manually make it to only play 1080P, it stretches the image too much.

i have a 24" 1080p HDMI monitor for my PS3... if I am playing a game that is scaled for 1080p it looks brilliant, but there are some noticeable jaggies for games that aren't 1080p scale-able

(most current games that are scaled for 720p, but that is obviously changing)

even with the jaggies I'm still pleased with the way it performs compared to any TV I've seen. Monitors are definitely more economical than TVs too... the only drawback is that monitors tend to have crappy speakers, so you need to make sure the monitor has an audio-jack so you can use headphones or computer speakers (i suggest the Logitech 2.1 THX certified set)
