How not to procrastinate?

Seriously I mean i've procrastinated my entire life. Never once have I started like an essay or project or anything until either that night or the night before (rare). But lately I've really started procrastinating - I think i might have ADD or something. It's like i go to the computer at 5:30 to do my homework, and I don't start until 9:30 or 10. Hell im procrastinating right now typing this. I have an essay to write.

Anyone have any tips or something? I need to pull my grades together and i'm just not motivated and i cant stop procrastinating.

helpppp - in the past week and a half ive spent 3 schoolnights up until 3 am doing homework. then i tank my tests the next day because im so tired.


so essentialy - motivate me. please. +K for whoever motivates me to do my schoolwork in the short term (tonight) and possibly (not even kidding) like 5$ via paypal if you can motivate me for at least 2 weeks.

I have INSANE ADD, I barely play xbox, ps3, etc because of it, that being said, one way to cure it naturally is to make yourself have OCD. I write every single thing I have to get done on my schedule, as soon as I get home I open the schedule up and start hammering out all that homework.

no one can help you but yourself.
self discipline is an important thing ESPECIALLY if you are going to (or are in) college and want to keep your grades up.
turn off the internet or go to the library. i always work best when i am at the library.

haha i would say the only way not to procrastinate is to do your work soooo....

but im the same way, if i try to start something more than a day before it's due i get nothing done. now, i dont even bother trying to start early. I need the pressure to actually be able to start.

well, usually it's best to procrastinate by doing things that you enjoy, so don't procrastinate by doing things that you don't enjoy. Also it's best to procrastinate by not doing anything productive, likewise avoid any activity that ends in something worthwhile. If you are going to accomplish something, make sure it's something trivial or out of date. For example, if you're going to watch a movie instead of doing your homework don't procrastinate by watching something that might be discussed at school. Choose a movie like Heat, which you can be certain no one will want to talk about anymore.


If you're interested in learning how to not procrastinate, accept the fact that you can't even express your need for advice and it would be worth your while to pay attention at least until you can ask for what you want. Once you accept this, if you ever find yourself making the choice to procrastinate, affirm your decision by concluding life is better as a moron.

i have the exact same problem man, but since i started skiing again i don't have to motivation to postwhore on NS anymore, and i am starting that schedule thing like srslyfresh.com said. just get a ban for a little while and then focus on the HW

my problem is I can always rationalize not doing my work until later, as well as not having to go to classes and sleeping instead. bad habit but my grades don't suffer because of it

go cold turkey on all distractions. unplug computer, turn off phone whatever. do your work somewhere that you can't be distracted. if i am serious about doign some work, i go to the library.

some people tell me this doesnt help them at all, but i have pretty bad ADD (not diagnosed but i havent been able to concentrate on anything for more than a minute since i was like 4) and i just toke a lot and then get in the zone and get some homework done.
