Afterbangs vs. anthem vs. wall

i am looking for a pair of skis solely devoted to park.  I have a pair a wide skis so i dont plan on taking this ski out of the park or out of bounds.  I hear a lot about afterbangs being really good but its brand new and i dont want to rush into an unproven ski.  I better at rails than jumps and plan to do more rails/boxes in a day than jumping.  What would be the best ski??

how tall are you, how much do you weigh, and how big of jumps are you planning on hitting?

In terms of stiffness it goes like this:
Anthems - softest
Afterbangs - middle
Walls - stiffest

All three are symmetrical, Anthems are the widest (93), Walls and Afterbangs are about the same (afterbangs are 88mm and Walls are 87mm)

Afterbangs are probably the most versatile - soft for butters but will still hold up on bigger jumps, but if you don't want the new technology right away the Anthems are going to be good for rails and butters but might wash out on bigger jumps (45 feet or more) but the walls wont wash out on big jumps and are butterable, but not as easily as anthems or afterbangs.

I love my Afterbangs and I'm not worried about the construction since its been tested for 4 years and after riding it, it seems VERY solid. I hope that helps.

im like 5' 9''  and weigh 140 so its harder to butter stiffer skis.  I would love to get some afterbangs the only thing is that i keep hearing of people core shotting to so called "top sheet" so that cant be good for the structure of it.

does the pop wear out??  its advertised as a skateboard and people say that skateboards loose there pop.  I dont want to be back looking for skis and the end of the season or mid way.

To be honest I haven't been riding them long enough to know if the pop will wear out, but it has pop for days so even if it down wear down it's still gonna be a pretty poppy ski. As far as getting a core shot on the top sheet, I don't see how people are hitting their top sheets on anything that would cause a core shot. I saw the skis that Ian Compton and Will Wesson have been riding for the past few months and they seemed a bit worn out - but everything was cosmetic.

I don't want to push someone into a ski they don't feel comfortable getting, so if you don't feel comfortable getting ABangs go with the Anthems - they are nice and soft, but still pretty poppy. And since you're lighter you probably wont wash out as much.

any more info on the afterbangs would be sick.. ive heard both good and bad stuff about them. afterbangs or 09 t-walls? help me choose!!!

the 2010 walls are not any stiffer then the anthems. I have 177 walls and i'm 125 pounds and i think they are a super easy ski to butter compared to my old 161 thrusters. My buddy has 09 anthems and i feel they are the same for buttering. Also when hand flexing the walls and anthems the only difference i find is that they flex in different spots. The Anthems at the butter zones and the walls flex at the tips and tails. All the skis are very legit options. I love the feel of my walls... hope that helps a bit.

the 2010 walls are alot softer then the previous models. Volkl completely changed the flex pattern of the ski.

i think your mixing up anthems and afterbangs..... afterbangs are much softer and wont hold up on bigger jumps, the anthems are better for bigger jumps. also anthems have been around for a while while the afterbangs are new this season.

i just rode my anthems for the first time today and i reeeeaaaallllly liked em. they were not noodles like i expected. on one hand i could actually rip a groomer which i liked yet i wasnt able to do blocks or butteres possibly cuz i weigh 117 but yea super fun get em

I've ridden the afterbangs and the anthems, just not the walls(volkl always seem so stiff). i prefer the afterbangs they are so much more fun to jib on but there are no kickers up on my mountain yet so i don't know how they will do off kickers... but the anthems are very good on kickers and good on rails too. its a tough choice but in my eyes the afterbang is more of the park ski anthem is park ski but does alright everywhere else.

afterbangs have been tested for 4 years.
i have a pair that have been stabbed with poles, thrown, and ridden on rocks.. this ski is very durable and is very good in the park. i would choose Abangs man

i wouldnt recommend the wall for someone who wants a real soft, buttery ski although...

im 5'6" 120, have 169 2009 walls and they rip, they are light, they have pop, they chop through crud, and float fine in up to a foot of soft fluffy pow in the east coast woods. oh, i also learned tail presses on them, can butter on them, and have no trouble getting myself up into a tip stand//nose block//whatever you want to call them.

if you want a durable ski that wont wash out, and wont decrease all mountain skiing through crud, bumps, or some extra snow, get '09 or '10 walls for sure.
