Wood rails?

This past summer we used some wood to build a barn and we have some really long 2x4's left over, I was wondering could I just throw water on them when everything starts to freeze and do that a couple of times and use that as a rail?

yeah it will work fine, not the greatest for your skis though, but then again what rails are?

what we did was take boiling water and when it is freezing pour it over the rail, and then it will be pretty smooth. I dunno about a 2x4 though, we used like the rounded fence posts.

ive done wood rails without icing them.  theyre pretty fun since there grippy.  i dont think its sketchy at all.  just dont kit a tree with thick bark still on it.  thats ridiculously grippy

Not water.  Just rub some wax on the wood.  Have you ever tried hitting a rail on a cold morning when drops of water have frozen on them over night?  It usually ends badly.

waxed wood thats been sanded slides really nicely actually. dont go to light on the wax.

dollar store candles = just 1 dollar!

ya ive used wood before t works. good to sand it down first so its super smooth. and also if the wood is soft it might catch edges easily..
