Story time.

(If it's of any relevance to the story, I'm 16.)

So last night started off like any normal Saturday night. Me and a few friends heard there was a party going on so we went and got a run and started pre-drinking at a buddies house. It was about 10:30 and we figured it was probably time to head to the party. So we start walking there, only to find out it has been shut down by the police already. Great. So we call a few people and find out there is another party about a 15 minute walk away. So we start to walk to that.

As we're walking to that, we run into a few people from our school. So we stop and talk to them for a little bit. As we're standing on the side of the road talking to them, a cop car rolls up. No big deal right? Wrong. The cops get out and one of them immediately starts yelling, "booze check" at us. Then one of them notices my backpack. He starts to grab for it saying he is going to search it. So I ask him, "under what grounds is this search to be carried out, I've done nothing wrong?" He states some law I've never heard of and starts trying to grab for my backpack again. (Once I was cuffed and in the back of the cruiser, he explained to me that if you are in close proximity of a party then police have the automatic right to search you no matter your situation.) So he then rips the bag out of my hand, and throws me head first into the side of the police cruiser, and I couldn't get my arms out to break the fall since the officer already had them behind my back. Then he continues to rough me up against the car and starts to jam my hands into cuffs. All while saying I am resisting arrest. Truth is I kept my cool the entire time. I have 5 witnesses that can attest to this.

He search's my bag, finds a few beers, a gram of weed and my favorite bubbler. The officer then starts going off about all the things I could be charged. I ended up being given 2 tickets, one for minor in possession of alcohol, and one for "Obstructing a police officer during a search." And to quote the officer, I am getting off lucky because I "should be charged criminally with obstruction of justice."

And to top everything off, instead of just sending me home with the ticket like most cops would. This one officer (the same guy who threw me head first into the cruiser) decides to drive me to my house, walk me to my door and while I'm still in cuffs bang on my door until he wakes my dad up and he comes to the door.

Goodbye respect for cops.

the cops were assholes, and searching you/being a dick by just randomly finding some kids and searching them/slamming you into a cop car, were dick moves and definately uncalled for.

BUT you did have beer on you, and you were breaking a law,

that said, i dont believe that being an asshole is necessary to reprimand a kid for drinking, neither was cuffing you. im just saying that you deserved the ticket, not the violence. please dont get mad and call me a sympathizer or anything like that.

Sorry that happened man. Some cops are fucking pricks. Last week I got arrested for breaking up a fight and had a similar situation. A cop pushed me into a wall, I said "what are you going to arrest me for breaking up a fight?!" and he grabbed me and arrested me for disorderly conduct. I knew something was fucked up about this cop, and it turns out last spring, he went to a college party and tried to beat the shit out of a lacrosse player. The cop ends up falling off a porch trying to bully this kid around, falls off and breaks some ribs. The cop then charges the kid with assault of an officer and some other shit, the cop completely lost the case because the student had witnesses saying this cop tried to use excessive force on someone innocent.

Not all, but some cups, like the one you experienced, and the one I dealt with are a fucking disgrace to humanity. Above the law bullshit but karma will get them eventually.

Get a lawyer, get this shit dropped man. Sorry again you had to deal with that...better then spending the night in a cell like I did however.

Sounds like you got lucky to me man, you didn't even get charged for the paraphernalia. You didn't get booked or have to go downtown or spend the night in jail.  If a cop grabs for your bag, let him grab it, any resistance is just gonna make it worse for you. If he wants to search your shit, it's gonna happen, legal or not.  Sorry man, I dunno if this is sever enough for police brutality. You know cops in new york have sodomized fools with night sticks??  You got tossed into a car

its odd that he didnt ask to search your bag, but the bottom line is he had reasonable suspicion/probable cause to search because you were underage and they just busted a party not too far from you

I support cops but this is one of those times that at least from Frodo's story it sounds like he did not give any lip or any trouble and the cops were just idiots. Other topics on NS about cops being "douchebags" or "fuck the popo" topics the OP usually gives the cop lip or a hard time.
