COLLEGE & AND CAR

It is my junior year of high school, i have a like 3.0-3.2 i forget exactly what from a really high ranked christian private school and I am currently playing on a football team that is about to win state, anyways, I would like a college that offers a good close ski area, I would like to major in mining engineering or Major in business and go to grad school and get my MBA.
 I was looking at CU boulder, CU Mine,  UBC, Queens. I was wondering if there are anyother good colleges that i should look out for. (yes i know Canadian schools, I am a Canadian citizen)

And also what car do you think would be better for skiing, snow, and the areas around these colleges
The Subaru WRX STI ( yes I know you all are huge subie fans, so this is the choice i will probably get)
or The Nissan titan

umm, car wise, subies limited to where you can go, good vehicle unless the snow gets deep, with the titan youd be able to crawl over way more shit., schoolwise, iunno.

well it sounds like your family is loaded because you casually said you might just get a wrx sti. if you don't droll over possibly having an STI then just get a wrx or any subaru actually. i would vote that over the truck because of better gas mileage.

i would recommend michigan tech in michigan's upper peninsula because there is a hill right in town that is owned by the university. it is an excellent engineering school and the area is one of the best in the country i think. i grew up there and it is beautiful year round.

Don't get an STi right out of highschool, just saying.  I'd go for the WRX.  Not just because of the increased risk of vehicular accidents but also because of the hidden maintenance and insurance costs.  Just my 2 cents.

haha yeah I had no idea, my bad. and actually the subaru down here in so cal if offering low prices for a STI with nav, meanwhile the Titan is like 40 with nav. Thanks for the college thing also.

dude get the titan. do not get an sti yet. you will rack up mad tickets. get a titan, more comfy, tons of room. who cares about gas mileage when your buying a 40K truck?

 a MBA then get into the mining business, I can go either way, When it comes to chooseing my major i think I will choose what I want, but u do have a point, the average made right out of high school for a mining engineer is like 70K, and i would be more than the average lolz.

uhhhhh, I do, plus I wont get a lot of tickets, in the long run like lets say 4 years the truck will cost more, i am just wondering if it is worth it

As far as the car goes, I would definitely recommend the Nissan.

Presuming this is your first car, you don't want to go out and buy a sports car straight away. You may think you are good at driving, but you are most likely not. For a first car you want something that you can beat, while learning to drive. 

With the STI, you will most likely kill yourself/rack up mad fines.

Pickup- poor handling, but more comfort and can haul lots of shit of need be. It depends on the truck, but they can ride kind of bumpy when going down the highway with little weight in the bed.
STi- less comfort, but superior handling and way more fun to drive. If you don't plan on hauling stuff, the answer seems obvious- STi.

I go to CU - Boulder, business major and love it.
Has both a good business school and engineering school
If by "CU Mine" you mean Colorado School of Mines, great engineering school and about 30 mins closer to the mountains. If you pick a school in Colorado and are worried about driving in the snow, higher ground clearance will help a lot, so I suggest the Titan

yeah i do have a car, i drive a mustang and a porsche, i dont get speeding tickets cause i have a radar and common sense, maybe one night when i am all alone i will push it past 110 but i dont just go around going 20 over all the time.

If mpg is a big issue to you, the STi won't have much better than the Titan just to let you know.  They say it is like 14/18 for the Titan and the STi is 18/24 but it is less than that if you drive it how it is meant to be driven, more like 15/22 until you get a different tune.

my friend has one and he just does mainly low revs unless he is pushin it, and he gets about 26, the subie dealer said 28 and i was like, it could be done but i doubt it, and cause i have a auto gearbox on the mustang i only 18. and when i drove the titan from the dealer the car said i was getting 14. so its kinda a big dif

well its pretty obvious I didn't, my dad bought the porsche (04 carrera cab) he is the lead investment banker in all of canada. My mom is a producer of film down here in LA, and she bought the stang, and cause I don't have enough time to get a job due to football they agreed to pay for 3/4 of my car.

There is a possibility of 26 highway, but only with a more conservative tune than stock.  He is probably an outlier and he definitely isn't telling you city driving.  Expect high teens on average unless you are only doing highway driving at 3k rpms.  I'm speaking from first hand experience.

I go to UT Knoxville. Great business school, brand new facilities.

Business degrees are not shit.

My friend = 3.85, involved all over campus, well liked by teachers and friends in high places, business major, no job offer.

Me = Electrical engineering major, involved with a very few things that I actually want to do, mostly ignored by my teachers because I pass their classes with minimal assistance, 3.7 GPA, have an offer in my hand from ExxonMobil to start making 92K a year.

I'll say it one more time.

Business degrees are not shit.

haha i like your style man, yeah you see though i would couple with what i know about mining, with what i know about business. so i could get a degree in either, I could get into school of mine, ubc and queens really easy.  those Canadian schools are good and they love their american football players

in my first post i forgot to mention michigan tech is in the heart of mining country in michigan. in town is the world's largest steamhoist and lots of mining history.

but OP make sure engineering is what you want. I cant tell you how many kids have dropped out of my engineering program and switched to business cause engineering school does not allow you to have a social life, at all.

tell your parents it will be great for snow and it will be safe and great for moving stuff. my girlfriends parents won a H1 at some show years ago and it is a BEAST. they pull their farm tractors with it when they get stuck haha.

yeah, that is why i would defiantly get a MBA first, then go back, and I have herd some horror story's about engineering, but almost everything that i like i am good at, yeah. And what your saying about the combo is the straight up truth.
