1st Annual IFSA Eastern Extreme Series

saw this online and i figured i would pass the info along to everyone. it sounds like a really cool event.

That's right! I'm psyched to be able to announce that everyone has managed to come together and the four "extreme" competitions that happen in Vermont each season will now be tied together into one series. All four events will be scored the same way, using IFSA standards, and the overall winner will be qualified for next year's World Tour! More info to come, as this should be hitting the IFSA's website soon... but for now let's get stoked on some East Coast "Big Mountain" Skiing!! The events are as follows:

Feb. 6: Mad River Glen
Feb. 27: Magic Mountain
March 6: Sugarbush
March 20-21: Jay Peak

siiiiiiick i'm definitely competing in one of these

it's between Magic and Jay

Jay will be better with a tram face run but Magic is 45 mins away as opposed to jay which is 3 hours

Awesome to see IFSA get on board with some of the rowdier east coast terrain.

Hopefully there is good snow for event dates! I might turn out and be a spectator at the Magic event.

good to hear this has finally made it to the east.  can't wait until next year when I'll have a fully functional knee and maybe even be able to do the magic one.

Cool! The first IFSA event was a long while ago at Jay Peak on the Face Chutes. There was a story about it in Powder Mag and my brother got second! The guy who got first did a shitty front flip off a rock, ha!

they'd have to wait until spring tho and then the couldn't do a tour of the east because everywhere else would suck

why not have the finals there in late march or april? Pretty much guaranteed consistent conditions and plenty of line options.

I saw a video from the Jay comp a few years ago and the winner sent a smooth 1 on the double-stager under the tram

Might try it this year

bump for magic this weekend

you do not need an IFSA membership, registration will be $60 which includes a lift ticket, so you're basically paying $4 to register or $9 as a young adult

i've heard the venue will be held on black magic into black line. upper black magic is pretty gnar especially with the lack of snow right now, there should be some good crashes and we should be getting a bunch of snow this week

i'll be up there if anyone else goes, blue jacket, black pants, and riding garbones

it's also the TGR summit so there will be no shortage of good skiers competing

Good bump!

Let it be known that VT is looking to get slaughtered with snow this week. Should see some real good accumulations through Saturday, so it may be getting straight gnar out there!

Come out, support an AWESOME mountain, ski some of the better terrain in Vermont in some great conditions!

I'll be there for sure myself. Doubtful that I will compete as I am far from good and would get straight smoked.

I'll have on a bright yellow Orage jacket, brown pants, and riding 186cm Line Prophet 100's. Look for the NS sticker on the helmet!

^^ i don't really know how good you have to be to do well, i mean i can ski black magic and red line fast and smooth while hitting all the cliffs on them, i assume that's good enough not to get smoked, but then again i've never done a freeskiing comp before

idk i'm pretty confident there will be plenty of people there who are worse than me. i've skied magic with all the tgr guys who will make up the bulk of the competition and based on that i should do pretty well /claim

we shall see

if you see me definitely give a shout, garbones with a demolished orange ns sticker on the tip of one ski, either green or blue jacket and saga pants

I'll be there to compete.  Does anyone know if you can sign up day of the comp at magic? or do you have to go to that shop?  Anyone know wat the weather is looking like up there because i heard there is a chance of rain.

Also does anyone have pics of the trail?

look in the magic stoke thread on TGR, i posted some pics and vids of the venue

you can sign up day of between 10 and 12 and there will also be a pre-registration form posted on Magic's website sometime on wednesday

weather is looking okay...

HEAVY snow for Magic and Central VT right now. Looking at 8-16" or more by Wednesday night. Will be a wet, heavy, high density snow so it will go far in covering up rocks and debris. Storm for Friday still looking uncertain.

we're gonna have a solid base but some heavy bumps, should be great conditions for the comp

Let's just put it this way...

Between two and three feet of snow fell in Central Vermont from this current storm. It was balls deep all day out there.

Should be an awesome competition and an excellent atmosphere!
