Looks like the pattern is going to open up this weekend... storm is supposed to spin down out of AK and BC and give us some good snow... which will then be followed by a storm with so much energy (thank you, strong typhoon season), that it will undercut the omega block high in the gulf of alaska and slam RIGHT into Tahoe and the central sierras.
it looks like this will give us upwards of a week of consistant snow potential... starting sunday and going all the way through the 13th or 14th, the jet stream will be sitting right over northern california...
Some models are predicting as LOW as 8 inches of precipitable water, and some as HIGH as 19 inches of precipitable water. Seeing as about 1 inch = 1 foot of snow, we could have 8-19 feet of snow out of this thing come mid-december. Since I'm pessimistic about overexagerrated models, you should expect a good 7 or 8 feet of snow by the end of it - something I will be SO stoked on.
LEGIT STORM WOO HOO!
