last winter i called my parents in SE wisco from salt lake, where i live.
the temp in salt lake was about 30 degrees, the temp back home was -30 degrees.
just another reason why leaving wisco was the best idea ever.
the coldest ive skied was -40s with windchill and when ot gets to that point you can only ski for about 5 runs before you have to go inside to warm up. If you have any areas that are exposed when its that cold you can get wind burn faster then ever. i say i can ski comfortably though up until about -10 to -15 depending on the wind
haha yeah I LIVE in northern Alberta.
Ive skiied in -40. Almost froze, it was crazy cold but you warm up a bit when you start shredding. To be honest, when it's that cold the snow is pretty amazing.
Did -40C @ Tremblant for a few days.....that's without wind.
With wind it was -63C....about 50km/h steady.
I was there for 5 days straight, and the WARMEST it ever got was -26C....again, not including wind.
It was so damn cold, we'd do one run. Warm up at the bottom. Go up. Warm up at the top. Go down. Warm up at the bottom. Wash, Rinse, Repeat.
Somehow it actually snowed 30cm one night (I always thought that snow was impossible at those temps, but I now know it's not). The pow the next day, despite the cold, was glorious.
